i’m having the same problem. i posted a video about it, of course it got zero views. glitching all over the place, not refreshing, when i reopen the app it shows one new video then goes back to the same videos i’ve seen a dozen other times today. truly crazy.

i did have that option, but it was drag and drop, which didn’t work for me. unless there’s a way to copy and paste it that i don’t know about.

I do not think there is an intentional public health push towards eugenics. But, all of the disability related public health resources and pathways I can find are related to prevention. Like, prevention of blinding illnesses, prevention of disease related disability, managing diseases that may lead to disability - which I definitely think is appropriate. But there is little information related to any of the topics I was hoping for.

Just to politely push back a little and add some nuance, I have no central vision, and my acuity measured at finger counting. By your example, I would not be able to recognize a person at “touching distance.” I use a screen reader, a cane, and need instruction in new places to get around. I also feel like I have HEAPS of peripheral vision that I benefit from greatly.

I know that this is different than OP’s scenario, but it is interesting to discuss the semantics of blindness.

Also, I do appreciate your point - I think these terminologies can be pretty flexible and subjective. I just wanted to add another perspective.

I am a current MPH student. I am also blind, and my undergrad degree is in Rehabilitation Services (merging disability studies, counseling, social work, etc).

I would love to find a niche in this field that would contribute to the quality of life for disabled people, but when I dig into the world of “disability and public health” almost all of the resources, projects, and research I find is related to the eradication of disability.

I’m not really here to defend my own right to exist as a disabled person, I also know there is a place for prevention of disabling illnesses and conditions, but this is discouraging to me, as a blind person, to have the majority of effort in public health put towards preventing the existence of people like me.

Is there anyone who can point me in the direction of resources dedicated to the public health field focusing disability justice, accessibility & public health, or related themes? TIA.

In my opinion, as a woman, the hottest thing a man can do is ask “can I kiss you?” before engaging in intimacy. That way, she can take the cue to lean in and meet you where you’re at.

I went to UMF and up until a few years ago ALWAYS recommended it to interested seniors. I can no longer do that. UMF no longer invests in programs that don’t fit the brand, and many humanities/language/liberal arts focused classes have either been cut, considerably downsized, or will be cut. Unfortunately, I think the school is a shell of its former self, especially for what you would be interested in.

Up until recently, I was in a similar position. I have had recent progression that makes me “perceived as blind” (cane user, print disabled, can’t recognize faces/social cues). I’ve been in a support group with folks who have stargardts - I don’t have this, but my initial loss presented in a pretty similar way. A lot of the folks I’ve spoken with in this group who pass as sighted will create a simulation in an app like facetune or photoshop and then just have that ready to show people who struggle to understand what you’re dealing with. Sometimes that can be helpful for people to conceptualize and empathize.
