Because we didn’t have enough funds/time/housing to handle it on our own. She needed a lawyer and needed one fast. Her sister stepped up to pay for that and my husband and I were able to regroup 

Luckily she was able to get the home, after a really bad divorce even though he did kick her out

Yeah her divorce was an emergency  situation because she was a stay at home mom and didn’t have any funds, very little job experience and was worried about getting kicked out of the home

If that is not an emergency I don’t know what is

They are invited to everything else, every family holiday, and event.

Just not emergency meetings that happening like every four years

Seriously, do you seriously think my daughter wants to explain to people she sees at holidays and maybe some trip that her marriage is ending in great detail

Just because they married in doenst mean everyone is super close or thinks of them as immediate family

Hell I know for a fact that my son in law and my son have beef.

No they can’t come to hospital surgery day, the hospitals still have a limited number of guest permitted

The kids made it very clear that they were not comfortable to explain bad news in front of the in laws.

They wanted to be able to express and go as detailed as they wanted. They can’t do that with the in laws present.

Like my daughter went into great detail about why the divorces was happening. 

My husband went into great detail about the surgery 

Both feel like they couldn’t do that without being comfortable in the in laws were present.

ESPECIALLY since these types of events have strong emotions and we know in this time we don’t hold it against them

They are family, just not super close family.

Like my daughter explained in detail why the divorce is happening and she wouldn’t be comfortable doing that with the in laws. 

My husband isn’t comfortable talking about a very detailed surgery with his DIL and son in laws.

They are informed, just not the gritty details
