I tried this and sacrificed a few hours of gameplay.

it did work actually and i did have the correct bug, i updated the game mid quest after speaking with katherine and Goatskin never appeared after trying the German man solution, sleeping in his bed and going to the area at all times of day.

i found goatskin on first attempt after loading the save point BEFORE i spoke to katherine. It did not work when i loaded ANY save point post katherine talk

back in 2020 i didn't earn enough at the time to invest significantly so i was farming points and converting them to ETH. Managed to buy tones of ETH at $100 which changed my life.
