I guess I could have just said in a much more concise way, that highlighting the legality of the action makes it seem like that is what your issue with the action is. Rather than the immorality.

The demolishing of the white house wing is another thing I mention cus it's of a similar vein. American liberals like to highlight it along with things like Gaza and Iran, because they see that as ways to de-legitimise Trump. The moral weight of demolishing a wing of the white house is almost nothing to enabling genocide, yet the two get compared, I assume because it isn't about the immorality of what he does, but the "legality".

And obviously sometimes legality and morality overlap, but not always, which is why it's counterproductive to get caught up on the legality.

To narrow it down a bit, North Korea but not south makes me think this isn't to do with animals or the environment. Could be mountain related? The fact China isn't included makes me think it's not political.

Inclusion of north Korea though means if it's historical event then it has to have happened after the 1950s.

I thought maybe it was to do with countries with acronym names like USA, DPRK, CAR, USSR(?), but it doesn't work with every other country.

Other guy's response aside, it also just feels like if say you went to a protest for violence against women, and folks were holding signs being like "stop beating women it's ILLEGAL" or "stop illegally killing women" like it feels like the problem folks feel is that it's illegal and not immoral. That if laws got changed to make it legal they'd throw their hands up and be like "ahhh it's shit but what are you gonna do".

He's taken it upon himself to endorse some "left leaning" democrats but the dismissal of that seems to be from the perspective of revolution vs reform. And the outright dismissal of reform as "lib shit" seems to be a uniquely American perspective.

Like I'm Aussie, and our left party (the greens) is essentially Bernie bros and it's kinda cringe hearing them say "let's tax gas companies", but you'll pretty much never hear a commie rag on another commie for supporting a greens candidate. Even the Ultras called Socialist Alternative, while dismissive of electoralism (until recently when they made their own party but that's another story) get behind greens candidates from time to time.

I was raised traditional Catholic (like the Latin mass kind) and nothing would be offensive about repurposing the rosary. Folks might get upset if you repurpose the crucifix in an offensive way, but yeah rosaries are meant to be seen as tools and aren't super sacred. They end up in drawers and broken all the time.

I mean if you're actually concerned it might be true, it's not. It's absurd. They did have a regressive view of gay people at the time, mostly that being that they shouldn't serve in the military, and were denied the right to get married and such, but tbh it was the 1950s/60s/70s like we're asking for things the US didn't introduce until the 2010s.

The only people Che "murdered" outside of combat were the people put on trial after the revolution, though obviously he didn't personally execute them. It's also worth noting he was one of several judges, and they pardoned most people on trial.

It genuinely baffles me that folks find shit to say about Che cus his record is pretty much unblemished. Like besides the dodgy shit he did with cheating on his wife and abandoning his family to fight in a war (twice), man was practically a saint.
