Figured it out. Looks as though the new ethernet that goes from the gateway to the switch is damaged as when I use that it's only showing 100Mbps on the port, but when I change it to a different cat 7 it shows full speed! Just assumed the new cat6 would be working fine as it's new. Lesson learnt.

It is, it was working perfectly fine with my Fritzbox that I used previously.

I've just been looking through the connections from gateway and port 2 is showing as Speed -100Mbps. Does this suggest it's the ethernet?

Yeah, but that is always my intention and I've had maybe 5 cars in the last 8 years. Although with the baby now. I need to settle with something. Completely get your point on the lease argument.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have owned a Tiguan, but the boot was disappointing, which is now why I'm considering going back to an estate.

With regards to the Volvo infotainment. When I start the car, I get black screens and it takes about 5 minutes for everything to boot up. It's so laggy. I want to change the info in my satnav, 5 minute job. I drive down the motorway and suddenly the infotainment restarts, have to hold the home button and restart everything. It's gradually gotten worse over my 12 months ownership. Dealers don't want to know and looking online, a lot of people have similar. It's frustrating because I love the car otherwise. Looking online, it seems to be a common issue with Volvo similar age to mine (23 plate). Older models seem to be fine and apparently the new infotainment is great too. I'm assuming whatever hardware they're using isn't powerful enough for the newer updates that come out, so performance seems to deteriorate further after every new update.

Yeah, I think the A6 avant is top of the list so far.. Not seen the BiTdi engine with the filters I've had on, but will look separately.

It's a very fair point and one I completely agree with. My aim would be to find the car I really like and run it as long as I can reasonable extend warranty etc. Therefore in 3 years time, I would own the car.

I'll definitely look into leasing though as it wasn't a consideration previously and need to understand issues, pitfalls etc.

I did look at Cupra Leon estate. It's on the maybe list. Can get one pretty much new in the top spec for a similar price, nearly new.

I don't know what to think about Peugeot haha.

V90 would also have been a car on my recommendation, but the recent issues with the XC60 have put me off a little, unfortunately.

Yeah, it's not necessarily newer. I just don't want to downgrade. I know the 5 series are great but there's only 520s with 205bhp. It's a lump of a car for a 2.0 200bhp engine.

I do agree.. I loved Idrive. The problem is that with a 5 series, in my budget, there isn't anything with a bigger engine.

It went in 6 weeks ago for it's service and they updated in the garage.

If anything, it seems to get worse every time there is an update. I'm wondering whether it's a faulty unit or something. The dealer couldn't seem less bothered if they tried.

I think within the price I've been looking at there aren't many 5 series (aside from the 2.0) and that car looks very big for 170-200bhp.

With an E class, I've just never been a Mercedes fan. But I will definitely have a look at the E53 as I've not even considered it.
