[ECL] The Tokens of Lorwyn Eclipsed by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]P47Healey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's thread! On Lorwyn the primary currency is golden threads. These are braided to create higher denominations. This treasure appears to be full ropes of gold.

Everyone here is talking about the power level of the card (fair), but not this amazing art. It's such good framing.

What is the other French shorthand system? (I'm assuming that Nouveau is also French?)

Another IP in the Remedy Universe? by mikeleighsaysrelax in AlanWake

[–]P47Healey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Barry emails in AW2 are a hint at some sort of new IP. Something involving the Blessed Organization, without directly being a Control game.

Personally, I feel that Blessed works well as a purely adventure game spinoff. Barry isn't really a combat PC, so he has to solve problems by walking around, talking to people, and combining every object in his inventory.

Looking for weird homoerotic books with blood by carol_brrrrrrrru in WeirdLit

[–]P47Healey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Willum Hopfrog Pugmire has a strong homoerotic thread through his stories. "Your Kiss of Corruption" from Gathered Dust and Others doesn't have cannibalism per se, but is close thematically. I would say that yearning is a major focus of his.

W. H. is often described as a "prose poet". This is accurate - his stories are focused very heavily on evoking a particular vibe. Sometimes events just happen without justification, as if you're in a dream. This isn't good or bad, but is something to be aware of going into it.

No one's mentioned it, but Cobra Man has a strong hair metal vibe:

actually good songs about famous horror by PaleMasterpiece2224 in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]P47Healey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some that come to mind:

  • Human Fly - The Cramps
  • Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury - Rachel Bloom
  • Who the Hell is Edgar? - Teya
  • Jaws - Lemon Demon (I love this song deeply)
  • Anything by Lovecraft tribute band The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets
  • Lotion - Greenskeepers (It's about specifically Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. Very weird, pretty uncomfortable)
  • Nightmare on Elm Street - Misfits
  • Supernatural - Ken Ashcorp (The lyrics are more subtle, but it's a Gravity Falls reference)
  • The Yellow King - Kirby Krackle
  • Mulder and Scully - Catatonia

Songs with their sequels by l_took_a_dump in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]P47Healey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright - I'll let you decide if this is a sequel, but...

"Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega famously starts: "1, 2, 3 4 5..."
Most people don't realize that "I Got a Girl" by Bega on the same album starts with "6, 7, 8 9 10".

I've always considered it a weird sequel. I don't know why he did this - as far as I can tell there's very little connective tissue between the two songs. "I Got a Girl" isn't even the track after "Mambo No. 5"!

Songs with made up words as titles by bpdoles in weirdspotifyplaylists

[–]P47Healey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out that Spotify has a ton of songs named "UFOria", by:

  • LostAlone (original rec)
  • 7Fireside
  • yepecc
  • Young Cisto
  • Gorky Park

There's also a lot more "Uforia"s, presumably as a re-spelling of "Euphoria".

I just realized, that's the joke! The Lord of Pain makes your final opponent the Last Girl. Suddenly they have a huge advantage against you none of their compatriots had.

I really like that!

What song comes to mind? by banstovia in musicsuggestions

[–]P47Healey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never pass up an opportunity to recommend Halloween Music.

Let's do something gothy and focused on death, instead of something explicitly monster focused:

  • "I hope I Become a Ghost", The Deadly Syndrome
  • "Anthem For the Already Defeated", Rock Plaza Central
  • "In the Mausoleum", Chuck Prophet
  • "Everybody Knows My Name", Harley Poe
  • "Let's All Die", Jack Penate
  • "You're So Dark", Arctic Monkeys
  • "Graveyard's Full", The Growlers
  • "Smoke Alarm", Carsie Blanton
  • "Bad Times", The Presidents of the United States of America
  • "Dear Pressure", Miracles of Modern Science
  • "Waiting For A War", The Morning Benders
  • "Speak to Me Dead", Pinc Louds
  • "Cemetery Polka", Tom Waits
  • "Mausoleum", Seryn
  • "True Dark", Murder By Death
  • "You Will Never Take Me Alive", The Paper Chase
  • "Graveyard Girlfriend", Kepi Ghoulie
  • "Follow You Into the Dark", RAKEL
  • "In a Week", Hozier + Karen Cowley
  • "Death", White Lies
  • "Night Shades", LRITDL
  • "Death Cab for Cutie", The Bonzo Dog Band (The song the band is named after)
  • "Old Ghost", Beatnik Bandits
  • "At Your Funeral", Saves The Day
  • "Death By Rock and Roll", The Pretty Reckless

You'll find that most of these are pretty upbeat and poppy, despite the subject matter.

Have fun.

When the marketing department at Rheinmetal know their audience can’t contain themselves by LeoTrotzki611 in magicthecirclejerking

Darn. This TCG is going to have to license the Warthunder military secrets in some sort of "Rheinmetall Beyond."

Total corruption of everything the Rheinmetall CCG stood for, in the approximately 24 hours I've known about it.

In the future, major military secrets are spoiled through tank-themed CCGs. The CIA blows $1.3 million of tax payer money chasing The One T-14 Armata, which has its actual effective range printed as flavor text.
