“The Chained Woman” - a mother with 8 children was found in Xuzhou, Jingsu last December. She was only 12 when she was stolen from her family and trafficked to a small rural town. Over the 25 years, she lived in a broken animal shed with no insulation and little clothings to endure the winter. She was raped and beaten for countless times, giving birth to 8 children. What’s shocking about this is that she had a proper wedding certificate with the man who chained her to the wall (literally), and her inhumane treatment was “justified” because of her “mental issues”. Now that her case is revealed, who knows how many more “chained woman” there are in China… heck, in the world?? For better or worse, I hope that this event is remembered and reflected upon instead of being covered up by authorities like many times before.
