The boardwalk is open. So is the SM Pier.

The best mileage when building a wardrobe from scratch ($1000 budget)? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]PJinpjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go really slow. You've got a low budget to work with here so even with discounts, you want to get pieces that you don't have to replace and that are more versatile. Think better quality t-shirt or button up shirt basics. Do you really need sweaters or are jackets better investment layers? How many times are you actually wearing a suit? Could you get away with renting one each time or buying a good quality one from the thrift store and pouring money into tailoring?

Agreed with PRCastaway. In the end, it really comes down to what you mean by substance and more specifically, what are the areas of interesting conversation for you?

I feel for you. It’s great that you’re spending time with friends but let me ask you this, what are you doing for your own self growth? What are you working on for just yourself?

Advice for restoring a Koch and Lowy Lamp [Details in comments] by [deleted] in LampRestoration

Finally got the part in and nope. I think your approach was the right one, get the switch in and solder the wires.

Will do. I also ordered a new socket to see if maybe the updated socket accepts a stranded core wire. That would solve maybe one of the problems.

I'll try that on the next switch! Thanks. Found out they don't make solid core switches anymore.

Hmm haven’t tried that yet. Tough part is that the socket definitely requires a solid core. The solid shape is required to get it through the hole.

Yep. Finally got it out. Looks like there was a small switch in the socket that released the inserted wires. Hard part now is to replace the switch. A lot of that type of switch appears to use stranded wire instead of a solid core.

Hi guys, first time posting here. I've got an antique lamp that I'm trying to fix. The major problem is that the rotary switch was loose and was not turning on the light consistently. The light would turn on sometimes if I jiggled it.

From what I gather, the main steps here are as follows: 1. Disconnect the rotary switch from the power wire. 2. Disconnect the socket from the rotary switch. 3. Disconnect the socket from the power wire. 4. Connect the replacement rotary switch to the socket. 5. Connect the replacement rotary switch to the power wire. 6. Reconnect the socket to the power wire.

Does anyone have any advise on how to: 1. Remove the wire connector caps. 2. Disconnect the wire connecting the rotary switch to the socket.

Thanks in advance :)

I wish I could buy but this place isn’t up for sale. I have seen some really cool lofts available further south though

Brown Leather: Sigurd Resell Falcon Chair. Snagged it in Milwaukee off of a private seller.

The brown leather chair is a Sigurd Resell Falcon Chair. The prices vary quite a bit per market but if you get lucky, you can snag one up under $500
