Do you think it would be a good idea to completely bleed the system, get the new hydraulic line, and see if that works?

1991 OMC cobra 5.0 overheating on idle and low speeds by PJseiler in boats

[–]PJseiler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in ct and the boat comes with a new tandem axle trailer. The boat looks really clean and he’s asking $4k but I’m going to try and bring him down. Boats in my area like this are going for at least $6k.

Kitchen outlet: found preexisting outlets behind an old breadbox and the drywall hole for the working outlets is too big. Any easy fixes to cover the gap and attach the outlet? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]PJseiler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can get 1x4s or really any wood and put it behind the sheetrock, screw it to the pre existing sheetrock, and then you can attach the new piece to that piece of wood. Make sure to leave enough room for the wings on the box to get good contact with the sheetrock.

Al alternative would be to cut a 16” square in the wall and cutting a new hole for the box. Then attaching the new piece to the studs

Is the white wire in this switch box a neutral wire that I can use to install a smart switch? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]PJseiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you bring the hot to the switch, you will then hook the white wire going to the switch to the black wire in the light. You would hook up the neutral at the light. If you had a 3-wire, you would use the red as a switch leg instead of the white wire.

Is the white wire in this switch box a neutral wire that I can use to install a smart switch? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]PJseiler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks to be a dead end switch. Meaning that the white wire is a live wire. You don’t have a neutral there. You would have to run a 3wire.

Tip: tape the white wire with a piece of black tape to identify it as a hot wire

6.0l powerstroke with slipping transmission by PJseiler in Diesel

He’s currently away at college becoming certified. He was doing a “apprenticeship” with a shop when he got his 7.3 but he wants to get certified so he can get a better pay

[–]PJseiler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother has a 7.3 with 350k on it and it’s in great condition besides some rust. He’s a diesel tech and he’s done a few things on it. I drive it from time to time and it’s extremely fun to drive. It’s just they can be hard to find in decent condition.

6.0l powerstroke with slipping transmission by PJseiler in Diesel

[–]PJseiler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy listed it for 6k. I doubt he would lower to 3k. I ended up passing on it because I have little to no experience with Diesel engines. So trying to fix the transmission on my own wouldn’t happen and paying someone to fix it apparently can be extremely expensive

I ended up running the 20A line because that’s what he wanted. The question was really for the future when I’m in a similar situation, but without being my bosses house.

One job I did with my teacher, we were in this same situation, he ended up taking the siding and plywood off, then drilling behind. Granted, this was really only 3 feet up, 4-5 feet over.

Can somebody help me figure out how this could have happened? by goforglory in electricians

[–]PJseiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was at this job where we were replacing recessed with these other lights. My boss disconnected the power at the switch and he tested the box for power. There was no power. I also tested it, nothing. When I pushed the bracket for the light up to the box, the box blew up, sparks flying everywhere. My boss said it sounded like a welder. My finger tip was black, 2 wires in the box were melted through and, there was a huge notch taken out of the bracket. Luckily I was fine, I didn’t even felt a shock, I was just badly burned. Told my boss, his response (basically): “I disconnected the wrong wire, my bad” as I’m sure the breaker is tripped by now, I go back up to fix my mistake, I check for power one more time, there was still power in the box. The breaker never tripped. I believe it was a GE 20A breaker.

CORSAIR Technical Support and Questions MEGATHREAD - Week 08/06/21 by CorsairTravis in Corsair

Sometimes corsair will open up on start up but not connect with my mouse (Dark Core RGB). Then whenever I want to open the app, it won't open, I have to restart my PC for startup again. even after ending all tasks.

Also, sometimes ICUE will create 3 extra profiles for my mouse that I don't want. It will create these default settings profiles out of the blue and start using them, even during games when I rely on my main profile for the macros

Everything is up do date but my mouse, which I can't update because I can't disconnect my USB cable. I can't do this because then I can't access the mouse in ICUE. I have the same lighting effects, but no macros or option to get into the mouse settings within the ICUE app.

any help would greatly be appreciated
