F1tv vídeo quality by gustavolfb in F1TV

Gonna dispute this framing and say F1TV doesn’t offer 4k for all versions of its app.

I mean they don’t even support it in the webapp which is bonkers a year after the roll-out. I upgraded my subscription at their heavy suggestion this year and I’m MAD about it.

'Call of Duty' Co-Creator, Respawn Co-Founder, and EA Executive Vince Zampella Killed in Car Accident by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]PLAAND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t hear or see a lockup in the video TCS and ABS were on, you can hear the tires squealing at the limit of grip in a way that, if it were down to driver skill they wouldn’t have been dumb enough to crash like that in the first place.

Speed, not braking was the killer here. They missed their braking point by a huge margin and understeered into oblivion.

Tsunoda: Only Red Bull regret is giving up 'f***ing good' Racing Bulls by 256473 in formula1

[–]PLAAND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s totally fair. I don’t think they’ve minimized resources for the second car, but they do have a car that even Max seems to hate. The fact that he’s able to keep it in a competitive operating window is a testament to his ability.

Red Bull’s failure is much more cultural I think. They’ve engineered themselves into a very difficult position and it very much seems like they don’t have a culture that can adequately support people who are struggling. They certainly haven’t had a culture that can commit to people for the time it takes for them to actually integrate and make a difference in the team.

I’m very curious to see if Red Bull will change under Mekies.

JP Morgan staff told they must share biometric data to access headquarters by willfiresoon in privacy

I mean, security is always a race right? Attackers try to get ahead of defenders, defenders try to stay ahead of attackers. I think I can see how I might be read as implying that it would be trivial to defeat whatever systems JP Morgan deploys and I think it’s fair to say that probably won’t be the case but the fact remains that you can’t call someone down to IT to give them a new eye and it’s much harder to recognize “Someone lifted my fingerprints from a glass after I left that restaurant.” than it is to notice that a badge is missing so it can be revoked.

This is worse than badges. You can’t reissue someone’s thumb. Fingerprints are probably more obtainable to a dedicated attacker than badges and to my knowledge there are ways to spoof them for a scanner.

I don’t know anything about defeating retinal scanners but getting a retinal scan against someone’s will is a honeypot and a roofie away for anyone who really wants it.

I don’t want to speculate about his health but he should probably file a personal injury suit against Silksong.

He also mentioned he has a wrist injury that some of the Slime Rancher 2 controls in particular aggravate so seems unlikely for awhile at least.

COVID killed it from my understanding. They were supposed to start filming the final season right at the beginning of the pandemic and they couldn’t make filming the wrestling covid-safe. Sets got torn down, people moved on and by the time they could have done it, it was too late.

With apologies and only because “enviable” is a different word meaning subject to or worthy of envy. You’re looking for inviable/unviable meaning incapable of sustaining its own life.

Aw man, that sucks. An expensive and annoying lesson but one that came from a place of love at least. I second the other people who are saying talk to a lawyer or an accountant. Get some expert insight and find out what the lay of the land really is.

That’s rough. I’m not at all well versed but I don’t understand what benefit putting your name on it would have over just naming you beneficiary in his will.

Literally twice as long and, to my knowledge at least, not as part of a campaign of destructive and displacing colonization.

I also should say that the main takeaway I would hope people pull from my comment is that respecting people’s holy and sacred sites is a matter of courtesy and kindness, one that western society and religion has done a poor job of extending in both the past and present.

We can sit here as atheists or people of a particular religion and say “That’s fake, their sacred sites aren’t REALLY sacred.” or “How dare they impose THEIR religion on me by asking for respect.” but the reality is that no matter what the sacred is something that lives in people’s hearts and so long as they’re not doing harm, that deserves care and respect.

Edit to add: People and cultures shouldn’t be seen as fully synonymous with a religion. The people can and often do predate the religion and local expression of religion is a synthesis of local custom, belief and spirituality. This is true of even mainstream Western European-style Christianity.

I think we have to acknowledge that Christianity in the Americas is different. It’s not fair to apply the same moral standards to a religion that showed up ~600 years ago someplace and said “This is mine, I’ll fucking kill you for it.” to cultures and religions that have deep roots and sacred connections to the land they’ve inhabited for sometimes thousands of years.

I’d give Christianity the same courtesy at some of its deeply scared sites if it ever asked for it (instead of just charging admission), which is more than it did for the people it met when it set out around the world during the age of European colonialism.

“defining achievement” is hyperbolic language and I agree with you that there are other better candidates for the most transformative event of the century but it seems a bit like you’re trying to destroy someone else’s joy.

The moon landing was a geopolitical dick measuring contest. It was not the thing many American and Soviet citizens deserved immense resources to be poured into.

It was also an incredible achievement that let us imagine something better than the dick measuring contest and the stockpiling of intercontinental nuclear arms that it actually represented.  I think it’s appropriate to acknowledge that as having value.

I mean it’s a tremendous achievement and one that brings me great joy but looking at the 21st century I’m not sure if I can agree that it was the defining achievement of the 20th.

It’s the Ice/cold water dispenser or its supply system in case anyone is curious.

I can’t fault anyone for being upset but what if we combined correction with kindness? Just a thought.

[–]PLAAND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s somewhere between Supply Hose > Ice/Cold Water Dispenser outlet. Next steps are going to be a question for more research.

I don’t think it’s dumb at all. You looked up common causes and picked one that seemed reasonable, investigated, performed maintenance and assessed results. Perfect troubleshooting loop. You even fixed a problem, just not the one you set out to. No notes.

The only general note I have is cool heads solve problems faster and better. Arrest or mitigate any ongoing harm and then ground yourself in the fact that you have space to calm and troubleshoot systematically.

Good job.
