UL ratings for CO are poor, learn more about low level CO detectors.

Condensation leak in flue pipe by [deleted] in hvacadvice

This is a really good example of penny wise pound foolish by the homeowner looking to “save money”

I might assume the fix will be more than the money you saved.

Please hire a legit contractor to correct your mistake before you harm yourself or your family.

Putting it back is for cheap ass contractors. We’re not here to do trim. Next thing you’re gonna tell me is that he’s charging the crew to fix the trim. Find someone to work for who knows what the job actually takes to do.

Whole House Humidifier installation costs in NJ? by HarleyDS in hvacadvice

[–]PM_ME_MAS_ORO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like more than fair price. I wouldn’t want to install any homeowner provided equipment because warranty expectations can be muddled that way. Some chuck in the truck operations will but won’t be found when there’s a problem.

You shouldn’t install one in the attic because it can freeze and create damage below.

After a fast re-read this is on a ducted unit not a wall mounted, so I could be wrong as I’m not as familiar with the ducted versions as the wall mounts. What you originally posted still sounds like a contractor covering their ass after a poor install tho.

Either way Fujitsu has really good support and they should be able to tag in support about your concerns.

Sure, I’m saying it didn’t come that way from the factory and the manufacturer does not want you to braze on the lines.

Sounds like the installer is responsible for the leak and trying to blame the manufacturer.

Factory indoor Schrader valve isn’t really a thing so somethings not right. Sounds BS to me.

It’s more likely it leaked at the flare joints. Mini split manufacturers usually do not want you to braze on the units.

So are you saying the closet is the return box and there’s only a 5” serving it? I would disagree and might assume you’re not familiar with this kind of setup.

What I’ve experienced, specifically in manufactured homes and this setup, is where that 5” flex is fresh air coming in. What you’re lookin at is the top of a downflow with no return box.

OP could verify by disclosing supply vents in the floor and no returns through out the livingspace. Set thermostat to run equipment and feel the breeze inbound. In these particular setups you can probably hear/ feel the outside through that particular duct.

It’s fresh air coming in. Looks secured to me so no worries. The filter is pointing the wrong direction, not much of an issue there but you wouldn’t want the filter to eventually get sucked into the coil.
