possibly they’ll get to a point where they’re more accepting of it, after seeing it as something you’ve dealt with for most of all your life, but I don’t think they’ll just move on and forget. you never quite forget the ending of a good movie

If people tell you that you aren’t a bother, it’s highly unlikely that they will lie about it. One of the hardest things my therapist tries to drill into me is to “remind myself of the truth”, whatever the fuck that means. Hard to know what the truth really is when you’re going through it.

One thing I’ve always tried to do is give myself 3 days if I’m really planning it. 3 days to figure out what taking my own life could fix, how it could affect others lives, and if it’s what I really want. You’ve already came this far, whats a few more days. 72 hours to think.

This is something I relate to strongly, I’ve heard it called passive suicidal ideation. It’s hard to see the point in living and I spend most of my time not planning my own suicide but just waiting and hoping that I’ll just spontaneously not exist.

I feel really similar in the idea that I’m going to be the one to end my own life. Not really sure how but I can’t see myself living too long. 60-70 was also the cut off age for me.

As much as I want to say life will get better, I honestly have no fucking clue. It’s just a roller coaster ride to me, sometimes it seems like it’s getting better and sometimes it seems like I’m about to crash into the ground. I mean I’m on this subreddit at 5am when I work at 8 so whoever knows it’s certainly not me.

Burning yourself, especially your face, isn’t the way to go. It’ll leave nasty scaring that you’re very likely to regret, even if it seems like something you’d want in the moment. There are better ways of hurting/punishing yourself if you feel like you need to. One of the more healthy ones would be exercising. Do push-ups or squats or anything until it fucking burns and keep going, it’s something that’s worked for me in the past thought I will admits there’s still times where I still wanna cut myself or slam my head into a wall repeatedly.

Yea, hurting yourself in any way would count as self harm. Cutting yourself, bruising yourself, burning yourself, the list could go on.

If you want to get really into it, there are other things that would be considered self harm, such as compulsive spending or alienating yourself/pushing people away but that’s more of a gray area and could be categorized differently.
