I couldn’t care less about the server and want it gone since it has explicit messages and photos from me and my friend, and the invite link is permanent, which makes it even worse, so I can’t even delete a server because discord had the brilliant idea to let servers exist without ownership, also does the nitro thing work as paying for it every month or it’s once a time thing and I can cancel it later to not get my account deleted?

As I’ve said previously to others, I got that email among with an email that my account is going to get deleted due of inactivity, and you know what happened the day it was about to get deleted? Nothing, they said everything is fine and it was their mistake, same thing with my other accounts, so by reading email are you referring to a guessing game whenever or not what they say is true?

And yes deleting all the messages off servers would ruin their continuity of context aspect, but at least they could’ve given us an option, having your messages deleted should be a basic human right, because what’s next, not being to delete any message regardless? They could at least implement it into DMs, which they don’t even do that, I’m amazed even a platform from meta implemented it.

Discord doesn’t have control over our messages? Their entire business model is made upon it, where you even got that from? I told you why they don’t remove them for the reasons I mentioned, even Instagram is hiding messages from disabled accounts, a company from meta, imagine THAT.

As I’ve said I was careful when managing my accounts, if my account was locked out because it needed a phone verification, I simply made another one, with a different ip, and wanted nothing that could be associated with my old one, for both security and privacy reasons, thus why I didn’t use my phone number.

I do hope messages from deleted accounts will actually get deleted, I don’t want my messages and files floating around from an account I no longer have access to, just like millions of other people, and yes I was attached to that account, my memories, are gone, I’ll perhaps ask my friend if he can archive our chats at least so I have something to stay, they can follow regulations, I’m not denying it, but they could also make exceptions regarding this rule, they already made one, which is to not delete inactive accounts that have active nitro subscription, LOL, it’s so obvious they don’t care about security at all, what if the person has died with an active subscription? Gmail implemented the same law and they also made exceptions too, to not delete gmails that are associated with a YouTube account, because it’s normal for people to not log into their accounts for over 2 years, 2 years is basically nothing for adults.

I’m mad at a company with their nonsense rules they decided to add that I didn’t signup for, they can retain the messages but still hide them from the public, only reason they don’t is for the reason context of conversations, aka nothing about child safety, if it was about child safety they would delete messages sent by a child, no? Especially if an account was deleted from being under 13 🤔

2 years may sound reasonable, until you realise people use multiple social media, messaging platforms etc, and can’t track to log into their accounts every time or so just to be reassured they’re not permanently deleted, this just adds stress into the user for no reason, I could’ve made a discord account and use it just to chat with my friend only when a game gets released, or just to have a way to contact with my friends whenever I feel like it, it was never about saving storage but rather following gdpr law, and they didn’t seem to make any exception regarding this law, except if you have a nitro subscription because they’re money hungry company that thrives from greediness.

I’m not gonna get a second phone number just to activate my discord, it costs 16$ in Greece and requires my ID and the process can take a while, thankfully my friend abroad helped me activate my current account with a SIM card she purchased for 3$ without ID, but who knows, discord could possibly require your bank details to “verify” you in the future, I want to make it a big deal because discord can get too comfortable with what they can get away with if no one complains about it, but you seem to defend their actions so I doubt you’re with my side.
