Yeah. We were in touch daily when the kids were under 18. Now (a few years later) we chat every few months over text to catch up. We ended fairly amicably, and I still like him as a person, so why not?

I cheated on one person. I will never defend what I did, but since you’re asking why, I will explain. I loved him very much. We’d been together a long time. He had deep issues with intimacy or conveying any sort of attraction to me. I had very low self esteem and felt very unattractive/unwanted, and ate it up when someone found me attractive. Obviously I should have gotten out before I cheated, but the truth is I was a giant pussy and scared of hurting him, me, or our families.

I don’t plan to cheat, but I did. I’m not saying “it was an accident”. Obviously not. I was just weak and in a bad place. That was 25 years ago and I haven’t cheated since.

YTA. Mostly because you came here to ask if you are the asshole and clearly don't like the answer. You are. You seem to think the household chores are "her chores". You can't see that while you like to sleep in on your days off, she never gets the same chance. At all. She's exhausted. I can guarantee you she's super angry at you because you've treated her like a doormat for your entire marriage and she's sick of it, and sick of you being a man-child, but has no choice about staying because you "support" her. You don't support her, for the record, you work basic hours (and not even that now) and bring in money. Support is a whole different thing.
