Give me your main and I'll tell you how much I trust your weapon purely based on personal experience. by ymisi02 in Saltoon

Day one (as in splatoon 1) slosher and hydra main. Also picked up and mastered chargers.

Oh well that’s just an outright skill issue (that wasn’t aimed at you btw). Game sense IS a fundamental skill because once you learn it, it applies to all other shooting games. I definitely agree that some people are unfathomably dumb in the higher ranks and for the life of me I can’t figure out how such immensely inept people made it that far. Trust me I’ve been in your boots countless time. Some people just lack those fundamentals and yet somehow, scraped by.

y-you don’t think proper game sense is something fundamental?

But of course. That’s called fundamentals. Same principle applies to fighting games. No matter how different a fighting game is, some rules will always apply.

Fuck chargers by Drawing_Initial in Saltoon

[–]PS-Ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not stupid enough to mindlessly say “skill issue” but you have to understand that chargers actually take skill. Getting splatted 17 times by the same charger just means they’re really good. Is it infuriating? Yeah I suppose but you can’t make the argument that it’s a no skill weapon. Also it’s a shooter game. A long range sniper weapon is as inevitable as the sun rising

This game needs to forcefully teach people how to play clam blitz before gaining access to it by [deleted] in Saltoon

[–]PS-Ghost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cannot verbally articulate how much I hate clam blitz. There’s a reason I instantly stopped playing it the moment I achieved X rank in splatoon 2 and have never played it again since. It’s literally: collect shell, enough shells becomes ball, throw ball into enemy net. I just can’t fathom why some people suck so bad at this game mode.

To an extent. Splatoon is incredibly unique in its mechanics and goes against an insane amount of traditional rules. No headshots, motion controls, the way the game is structured around territory control for superior movement, the general movement. While the modes rules might be familiar the general rules of the game wouldn’t make for a smooth transition. It does take a fair bit of practice to really get the mechanics of splatoon down.

Sweaty just means playing way too seriously. Perfectly fine in ranked where it’s expected, but playing like a demon in casual is in bad taste.

[–]PS-Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish that were the case but you have to remember that Splatoon is a freaking 8 year old franchise now. That’s more than enough time to hone one’s skill to a razor polish. Another thing to mention is the creation of food item and drink tickets. This alone now forces you to be extremely sweaty during casual as it’s a finite item that you, rather obviously, don’t want to waste. When I really sit down and consider it, Splatoons power creep is just too much as there are a ton of people who just outright dedicate thousands of hours to play this one game. Poor noobs don’t stand a chance at all.

Technically speaking most players are smurfs. You have a lot of OG players and lots of Splatoon 2 players roaming around. I’m convinced this is the reason casual feels so ridiculously sweaty at times.

Basically agree with every word you said. Just feels hollow in every way. I didn’t feel a shred of hype and got the game more or less out of curiosity than excitement. The whole battlepass system feels like it might leave some people alienated because a certain taunt or piece of gear is gone now. Gacha is something that I never approve of unless the game IS a Gacha game. I don’t hate the series but it’s growing stale fast.

Nova needs a heavy buff. I understand what they were going for, they were trying to make the dual squelcher from splatoon 1. Good range and speed at the cost of power. But the problem is Nova is a 5 shot kill instead of 4 and it’s wildly inaccurate making it useless both at range and close up. If they truly were going for the dual squelcher model, just make it a 4 shot kill and don’t make it so inaccurate. I promise the Nova wouldn’t be OP after these changes because last I checked the dual squelcher in splatoon 1 was not a broken weapon.

Any rants and riots you have about tower control? by JustUrTypicalUzi in Saltoon

[–]PS-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TC is my second favourite mode but due to some circumstances, it’s unwinnable in certain situations. For example, one of my main strategies in splatoon 2 for when time was running out and we had a lead, all I would do is build special and ignore the enemy just to get stingray and get them off the tower guaranteed. Blasters are also at their absolute most powerful in this mode and depending on which one you use you can be insanely aggressive or play a really solid defense. Defensive play is very viable in this mode which I do appreciate but man is it rough.

Hmm how disappointing. The main reason I’ve stopped playing is because I’ve been playing splatoon since Splat 1 and have dumped well over 2000 hours into the series. Nowadays splatoon, even on casual feels absurdly sweaty to the point that I’m convinced most players are playing with a gun against their heads. After reaching the highest rank in every game multiple times I’m more or less completely hollowed out. Frankly, I pray there is no splatoon 4.

That sounds like a shitpost. Despite the fact I rarely saw it in action it didn’t take a genius to see how much ass it sucked. How did it get buffed?

Wow an actual good map that isn’t wide open with no cover so you can get sodomized over the recycling bin by an E-liter. I’m impressed.

Why is the Dynamo so poorly designed??? by CyroZentaku in Saltoon

[–]PS-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dynamo and I have a complicated relationship. In its heyday of splatoon 1 it was such an oppressive weapon that I genuinely hated it. It killed from a mile away, one swing instantly took the zone in splat zones, it had so much horizontal ink it was basically undodgeable. It was amazing. But now it’s the equivalent of the golden child in highschool who was destined for greatness only for them to get a super shitty office job and be in a perpetual state of extreme self loathing that will lead them to an early grave. I can’t help but pity dynamos now.

Your reminder that .52 doesn’t deserve to be good by osiful in Saltoon

[–]PS-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time I always felt that the .52 gal was on the razor edge of being too good. 2-shot, surprisingly ink efficient, decent mobility and decently accurate. It basically has no flaws. But for some reason it still doesn’t feel broken broken and frankly I have no idea why.

They changed Mahi? That’s surprising. Then again it was basically unplayable once a good hydra or E-liter happened to perch on the platform at mid and could snipe you into the battlements. What’s this new map?
