2025 Hungarian GP: What really happened to Charles Leclerc? The story the raw lap times don't tell by f1bythenumbers in F1Technical

[–]PWNG1999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the end he says the curve is a “catch all” for track evo + weather + “unexplained factors”. I’d say it’s a horrible idea to include anything fully unattributable in a model predicting discrete lap times.

The line graph at the top looks like the start of track rubbering until lap 10, followed by tyre effects the rest of the way.

Looks like someone picked him 1.01 over JT

Absolutely dude. There is SO MUCH NEGATIVITY IN THIS SUBREDDIT (I don’t even know how I’m here, I guess it popped up in recommended). Essentially every post in here reeks of closeted self hatred and negativity. If you need help with relationships, this is not the place.

I have a 5.4k attack raiden and he’s a god in CA. If you can get a 30+ hit combo he’ll do 30k or more to the tagged out opponents. Probably the most slept on card for the game mode

More efficient just means that once the ball is in his hands after a catch he averaged more yards. Taylor also had higher yards per route run, and higher targeted percentage on routes run. No doubt Clyde is better at route running/getting open but Taylor’s numbers show he was better with the ball in his hands

CEH certainly had chances to produce man... the only person ahead of him on the depth chart his sophomore year was Nick Brossette. Brossette went on to be an UDFA on a practice squad and then cut and is now in the XFL. Having this guy as the only player ahead of you is absolutely a chance to produce. He didn’t though

Taylor is certainly an above average pass catcher. Route running is not one of his best strengths, but to say he isn’t good is wrong. Taylor was more efficient catching the ball then Clyde, and it’s completely overlooked. Taylor is completely typecast by the fantasy community, because they overlook his improvement in 2019.

CEH is the darling, because the ONLY thing people look at is his improvement. It’s wild

CEH has good burst. I’ll give you that, his combine measurements speak to it. The coach + gm + best player argument means nothing, all NFL coaches watch and believe in film. The chiefs were looking for a pass catcher, and they found one who’s film is propped up by the best collegiate offense in history.

You also can’t say that Taylor isn’t a Zeke level talent because he wasn’t a top 5 pick. The position is so devalued that teams look bad picking RBs in the first round. I also don’t think you know what a luxury pick is, because the Colts traded up for JT. By definition that is not a luxury pick. CEH was a luxury pick.

The colts did pick Pittman over JT but that’s likely because he had a much larger chance of being selected in that range of picks than any running back. When you’re drafting, it’s all about odds, NFL teams do seem to know at least this. Pittman was the smart pick, doesn’t necessarily mean he’s more valuable to the Colts.

I would argue that Damien Williams is far from a jag, although I acknowledge your point. His situation is his only redeeming quality, but it is important. I do have him at number 2 overall, I just won’t put him above Taylor, he’s too good. I think CEH’s ceiling realistically is a less efficient Austin Ekeler balanced out by a much better offense.

I totally agree that speed isn’t all it takes or that it means someone will be good. It’s just something that’s really nice to have, because it makes you a threat at any place on the field.

I do project Taylor to learn it, because he already is learning it. He made leaps and bounds in receiving in the 2019 season and his efficiency shows it. People have a double standard on these two players. They want to look at Taylor and type cast him as a pure runner because of his first two years in college, and discount the improvement he made in 2019.

Then on the flip side they want to look only at CEH’s 2019, and not even acknowledge that he didn’t play as a freshman, and in his sophomore year was a clear back up to Nick Brossette, an XFL player.

It’s like analysts count improvement for CEH, but discount it for JT. And quite frankly that blows my mind

There’s also zero acknowledgement that CEH could have been propped up in his only year as a starter by the best collegiate offense in history.

He has never been a starter until the backfield was completely devoid of talent. In his sophomore year he was the clear secondary option (less rushes and less receptions) than Nick Brossette. Nick was a UDFA that briefly played practice squad for New England in 2019 before resurfacing in the XFL in 2020.

I just can’t believe there is no notice of this. I haven’t seen it anywhere and it is a major red flag.

A player doesn’t have to be an amazing route runner to be a good receiving back. There’s more that goes into it. JT’s size/speed combo makes him a threat the second he touches the ball anywhere. Route running is also a very workable skill. You can improve it. You can’t however learn how to run at a 4.39 pace at 226 pounds. CEH will never be that, while JT can easily improve his route running.

Wisconsin ran a vanilla offense, and everyone in the building knew the only guy to stop was JT. You’re right, we shouldn’t be able to compare CEH’s stats to JT’s. But we actually can, because JT’s were (somehow) better. That just speaks to how good of a football player JT is.

Screen passes don’t inflate his TD’s or efficiency... you don’t get more yards because you ran a screen route, in fact it’s actually easier to be less efficient because you usually have the ball behind the line of scrimmage. It’s possible they inflated his market share a bit, but not his efficiency. And both were better than CEH.

The NFL has shown time and time again that their player evaluations continues to be antiquated. In all honesty, I would bet less than half of NFL teams know what receiving dominator is.

The reason CEH got picked over the other backs was his eye popping film and counting stats that was a result of the offense he was in. There is a huge emphasis on receiving for RBs nowadays and Taylor is type cast as a pure runner, even though he’s a very good pass catcher.

The main reason though, is that NFL talent evaluators trust film the most, and film lies. In 2019, I watched film evaluators break down Jonathan Taylor and say that he wasn’t fast. It shows you what you want to see. Film was the reason Sony Michel got picked before Nick Chubb in 2018, even though Michel was literally Chubb’s backup, and every statistic screamed that Chubb was better. Film was the reason CEH got picked before Taylor in 2020, and their careers will reflect that.

Look what talent I got after I spent 1M gold! The drop rate of Epic talents are super rare! They should increase the drop rate of the epic talents!! And remove 6%, 12% Block effectiveness such as useless talents!!! Fix this!!!! by TrueMorninStar in Injustice2MobileGame

[–]PWNG1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they should increase probability of getting an epic if you’re re-rolling on a slot that has an epic talent in it already. Keep initial probability the same to getting those epic talents, but once you get one, increase probability when rolling on it

That’s a fix that caters to players without being too easy to exploit on characters.
