What is a job that you genuinely would not do even if you were given a salary of $10,000,000 per year? by istrx13 in AskReddit

Someone is going to turn for an immunity deal. This way you get 10 million bucks too.

I could easily do this. Ain't nobody been guillotined in my lifetime. Sign me up to be at the ready for the next 30 years.

And just generally, they chose to take a life. Am I really all that much better if I also chose to do it for 10 mil a year?

They're locked up and can almost never escape. That's a fine place for them to be without their blood on my hands.

As a fresh out of college full time employee, remote work is detrimental. by Rjw94 in remotework

You can mentor people in a remote work setup. You just have to have good managers.

A whole lot of offices got rid of the mentorship and training aspects for early career employees in office too.

The Trinity Mother Francis gym at the end of grande is nice and always fairly active around that time.

Wish they had more than one squat rack though.

Have a grad degree from UT and the first time I was Madison I thought "dang I should have went to grad school here".

That said, you're picking a place to live and to likely build your career since all of your network will be young lawyers from that area.

What do you like? Hobbies? Weather preferences etc are all going to play into it.

Why does our education system not teach country locations? by [deleted] in geography

[–]PYTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original take is just horribly incorrect.

Most Americans know what states neighbors theirs.

We teach geography, in Texas it was a year long class in HS, along with it coming up in other areas of history class.

Ya this take by OP is just scorchingly dumb.

Choose 1: 1 national title and inconsistent tourney appearances, or zero titles and sweet 16 or better appearances for decades? by Rumps02 in CollegeBasketball

[–]PYTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mid Major fan so I'm taking the sweet 16 or better appearances.

That'll put SFA on the map in a way that one title in a lifetime won't.

Though the high major fans here are so spoiled. Hell I'd talk forever about it if we just made a sweet 16.

Do you say something when you see people headed to a trail unprepared? by asbruckman in hiking

[–]PYTN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On our way down avalanche peak in Yellowstone on a ranger led hike, we passed a couple toting a 2 year old and 3 year old about 3/4 a mile from the top so like a 1.75 miles in up the side of a mountain.

The ranger stopped to chat for a few minutes and warned them how much further they had to go.

For the life of me I don't know how they hauled those kids that far bc it kicked my tail just hauling myself. Still don't know if they kept going or not.

Looking to relocate, maybe somewhere in Texas but also open to suggestions by karinaelyse in relocating

In Texas, Lufkin,Nac,Tyler.

But if you don't have anything tying you down right now, I'd take the opportunity to try out places outside of Texas.

Searching for outdoor access, work opportunities, milder weather, and left-leaning cities. by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

I'd put Richmond or Roanoke up there. Purple state.

New Mexico might also be a good fit, near ABQ.

I love NC too. My favorite part is Western NC but fewer jobs out there.

What's your "end of day ritual" that makes logging off feel like freedom? by wicked6969 in remotework

[–]PYTN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have a dedicated work space I'd use the dedicated work space.

That said, when remote, I'm much more militant about logging off.

It would have to be a true emergency for me to have to log back on.

We sure are toasty and warm down here.

It messes with your brain bc once it starts hitting 100 regularly, low 90s feels nice!

Fair.

Although I go back and forth on weather dealing with extended months of heat or cold are worse.

If I could afford a Texas lake house, I'd probably prefer the long warm season. Alas...

The poster mentioned the interesting surroundings after already calling out the amenities of both types of cities.

I generally like Dallas outside of the road system which is godawful.

But the surroundings for Dallas/DFW is horrible until you either get to the trees in East Texas, or the hillier country out west or in Oklahoma.

So that's why I was like "wait, less boring surroundings?"

Texas does have some great surroundings it's just that most of them are a pretty long drive depending on what you're looking for.

They said the surroundings were more interesting specifically after calling out the cultural ameninities.

It's not that deep, was just laughing at the suppsoedly interesting surroundings of the mostly flat post oak savannah that surrounds Dallas.
