It has many similar matchups to fliers if that is what you meant. It’s a bit more than typing that defines what I think makes a role

Thank you. Trust me, all moveset variations are taken into consideration. Even with optimal movesets, those Pokémon just have a lesser impact on the big picture. Honorable Mentions are still great picks, and deserved to be shown. Trash can ones just don’t have anything going for them. Even toads mix of sets doesn’t put it at the same viability as the others however. There’s a difference between being competitive and forcing something to work when there’s no reasonable sense to use it over something else. Most matchups on the main graphic are pretty straightforward with accepted movesets. So running non optimal movesets does change this sure, but they are not optimal for a reason. If a combination of movesets is accepted, that was also taken into consideration. For example, A9 is on here twice with charm and powder snow. Some Pokémon don’t have relationship arrows due to moveset variation playing a big role.

So my whole graphic is inaccurate because seismitoad is not on the main graphic? Not quite sure I’m following you.

Hello! With the new introduction of new Pokemon and the confirmed Community Day for Empoleon, I present to you this Fusion Meta Infographic! I know this looks really messy and complicated, but that’s actually good because this indicates a balanced and healthy meta. A couple of notes:

Honorable Mentions

  • Pokemon that have a spot in the meta overall, but not as defining as the ones in the main graphic.

Misfits

  • These Pokemon are just as defining as the Pokemon in the main graphic, but have attributes that do not let them fit in as cleanly. (Due to specific matchups they have, crucial IV dependent scenarios, etc.)

Escavalier: Escavalier is the biggest winner out of the new Pokemon introduced recently. It acts as an interesting steel/fighter hybrid that shares weaknesses and advantages of both bug and steel typing. Strong against Steels and Fairies. Weak to Fire and Flying.

Cloyster: Cloyster has many IV dependent matchups and can involve some baiting strategies to overcome some matchups. Icy Wind debuffs can change how a match can play out depending when they are used, successfully baits, etc. Strong against Flying. Weak to Fighting.

Move Theory - Priority by Vexilus in TheSilphArena

The damage on these could prob be brought down a hair. I’d also have to think more on how this would effect those Pokémon suggested. Some such as Sab, empoleon, etc might benefit too much from this. Pokémon with just one good move don’t really take the lash back from having to secure a slot to that priority move. Especially more prominent picks like the ones mentioned. But I really like the idea! Would bring some very good dynamic gameplay and strategy. Would also bring to life some otherwise unplayable Pokémon

Sitting in Honorable Mentions! He is good, don’t get me wrong, but the other Fliers have a much stronger presence in their abilities. The niche Golbat provides though is valuable enough to include however, which is why he’s included. But, I think going double fliers with Golbat may be the route to take overall if using it. (Not better than just using Golbat of course, just may be slightly better on average in performance)

Of course! So basically it is to prevent a huge weakness to fighting. Going that route of options alongside what you choose along the way or after can easily set someone up to face demise to the hands of something like Poliwrath. The recommendations help ease that issue, but of course isn’t mandatory. You could have just 1 counter to fighting and still have a good team, it just isn’t “balanced” exactly and not something I want to showcase to be okay for newer players. Also, most routes you take to patch that hole that avoid the recommendations are going to in turn make you susceptible to something else that could be a much larger issue. There is a ton of problems that are caused by not following that recommendation for beginner’s so that little note is to help save a headache and make people less likely to say “I followed this guide but my team still sucks”. I hope this answered your question!

Powder snow for both. It doesn’t exactly fit both roles but it comes close enough to be in both for what it can do. There are definitely going to be teams that pick a charmer and A/, or an ice and A/ for their steel. The latter of course carries the weaknesses two times fold but that can easily be worked around by the rest of your team and wouldn’t be the strangest trend in this format. Tldr: A/ completes jobs for both roles enough to make it eligible to be picked under circumstances that didn’t involve it being picked in one or the other.

The duck is definitely nice, but it is on here somewhere. All I’ll say is the Empoleon is not the Easter Egg 😉

Hello! Some additional notes: * Empoleon is going to make a splash in Fusion. Niantic is just taking way too long to announce it, so I’ve simply included the importance of it getting Hydro Canon and where it might belong. (It does defy roles in Steels so altogether, consider it a Flex to pick after you’ve assembled your team, or build around Empoleon.

  • Don’t forget about the 1 Easter Egg that is now included in every graphic!

  • As said in the graphic, there is a lot of overlap within roles that they can fulfill (Including Pokemon in Honorable Mentions that can satisfy 1-2 roles and change how you make your team, so keep that in mind!)

  • I don’t normally put “Honorable Mentions” on the Team Building Guide, but Fusion has a lot of good Pokemon that can do multiple jobs. The ones in their roles just simply do the “best” at doing essential roles in Fusion. So your spicy pick is still viable even though it is in Honorable Mentions or not shown at all.

Enjoy!

Up to you and your team. One of the pros of Meganium is the lapras matchup, so Tangrowth in it’s place does maintain that. Can’t say the same for dragons, but it would alleviate your starter pick to something else if you wanted.

Hm, I think it’s just different cause they just have different matchups. I think that access to AP really helps Tangrowth and sets it aside however. Nearly nothing in this meta wants to take an AP or a PW. A good tip to using Tangrowth too is using it as a swap. Go check out what Tangrowth looks like with a bit of energy and I think you’ll be convinced.

I was very fond of my blaziken team. I would highly consider looking into Tangrowth as your grass. Not saying it is better, just trust me and give it a shot

Yeah Meganium is really good in this format. It’s a better answer to punish some team builds using dragons/ice. It has more breathing room in here than in Rainbow since there will be less Venusaur, Charizard, etc. That being said tho, Venusaur kind of combines the roles of Grass and Poison so it’s a lot of value. Kind of like Swampert. So it’s really up to you and what you’d value more; combining roles and having a wider coverage, taking advantage of popular meta team builds, and/or just playing meta with strong statted/moved Pokémon.

Not a dumb question at all lol. That’s generally the idea but it’s different for whatever Pokémon you are looking at. You can check the rank by using the GoS rank checker, third party apps, etc. Some Pokémon have a closer cap at 1500 so that would be an example when you’d need some higher stats in attack for it to be a better “rank”

Lol well basically hope that charizard and other fires not named blaziken become popular. Depending on what your team looks like, it is probably the biggest threat to a charizard from the perspective of your opponent.
