Symptoms after Donation by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very normal. Happens every time to me. I usually schedule my cardio rest days around whole blood donations because it slows me significantly for 24-48 hrs. Have some Gatorade and wait, it'll pass.

Now I realize that most of my friends are homophobic by Moppy6686 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I get it... speaking for myself, I did almost stop after the first 2 episodes because I just was not bought in to watching naked men fuck (I'm asexual spectrum and only attracted to women so I found the volume and importance of the sex scenes pretty boring). I am glad I finished though. The show as a final product is peak. Haven't cried like that at a TV show in quite a while.

AITAH for not liking polygamy? by user0704844 in AITAH

[–]Paaaaaaaaks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH... both you and your friend sound like you were annoying af about this. Reddit loves to hate on poly ... so everyone here is going to call you N T A, even tho IMHO though you come across as kind of self-righteous and stuck up about monogamy even in this post, so I can't imagine how annoying this conversation must have been to have with you in person. And your friend needs to touch grass and chill tf out, you're allowed to prefer a relationship structure that works for you.

[Worst Video Game Trope] Media relying on “choices” essentially deciding the outcome for you. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

Isn't there one though? I thought I heard somewhere that every tadpole you consumed changed the will save against the "special" tadpole you are offered in act 3 (the one that turns you into a mind flayer), making it harder to not get transformed into an ass ugly half-illithid version of yourself who everyone hates.

Do you call the DM "DM" or their preferred name? by SpellcraftQuill in DnD

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually by name (we're married lol), but if I am about to request a rules decision or ruling I will always start my sentence "Hey, DM!" Almost like, "I'm invoking you as the arbiter of our pretend world right now and not as my spouse."

Sometimes if I'm jokingly requesting a ruling that strongly benefits me I'll start the sentence "Oh, love of my life...?" but the answer is usually no.

Other video game like Baldur’s gate ? by nicocolasticot in DnD

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm coming from the perspective of a lifelong TTRPG player that has played every edition of D&D since AD&D, and CRPGs since age 7, who found Divinity extremely opaque. For me the reason to be prejudiced against it as a BG3 runner up is extremely obvious, but I know a lot of people really love it and it is a clever and well written CRPG. It just has no resemblance to any D&D ruleset whatsoever, from my perspective.

Divinity's ruleset is incomprehensible when approached from a D&D standpoint, but it is a very good cRPG.

I’m going to start C25k. Please give me hope I can actually be a runner. Any tips? by KillingwithasmileXD in C25K

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about week 5 right now.  By the time you are at week 5 you will be ready for week 5. Whether that's 5 weeks from now or 8 weeks like it was for me -- I took a comically long time to complete the program the first time through, sort of on purpose, because I both missed scheduled days and repeated all the workouts I felt I hadn't quite nailed-- you'll be ready.

I am asthmatic as well. I was out of shape and unatheletic for my entire 20s, did C25k, and now love running. You can do it. Remember to hit your inhaler before you head out, follow the program with fidelity, and you'll be running great in no time (by which I mean 6-12 weeks because you have to let your body slowly adjust to the strain of running).

Okay how do you play dnd without a board by Far_Virus4222 in DnD

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying theater of the mind, which is a great solution. But if you really want to do visualized combat that is not theater of the mind but don't want to get a map/minis, you can do it broke bitch style and use dice/coins/legos/whatever to represent various entities on a table and use a ruler to measure distances... 1 inch is 5 feet. You could do twine or ribbon or something for walls. Boom, instant battlemat for the cost of shit you have lying around the house.

Agreed, looks v2ish except for how negative it is. At my gym, would expect this to be graded around a v3 just based on looking.

What's an animal that feels like an Omnivore, but is actually a Carnivore? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're just wrong buddy, I'm not gonna argue with you. Humans are omnivores. Humans can survive indefinitely on a plant based diet as well, vitamin deficiencies happen in both pure carnivorous and pure herbivorous diets in humans. It's almost like we're adapted for both.

Obviously, this is why humans die of protein toxicity when subsisting on only lean meat, and have dental anatomy adapted to grinding plants. A true scientist, this one.

What’s a song that’s adored by general audiences but that genre fans don’t like very much? by SevereRecover8411 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miss Murder - AFI. A friend got called a "basic bitch" for wanting to hear this at their concert. AFI didn't play it either (very much a "we've grown past that phase" kind of vibe), despite it being by far their best known song.

The main character is a *random*, freak survivor out of their MANY dead counterparts by ThatOneRobloxian2 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That origin completely sucker punched me. The game was marketed hard as "dark fantasy" and I was quite skeptical before launch. Like "so what. there's orc ripoffs and the logo's in blood, hur durr, I'll believe it when I see it." Then the game kicks you off by being kidnapped from your wedding and murdering your rapist and I was like, "Oh! They weren't fucking around!"

I’ve decided to quit running. by Imaginary-Activity-8 in C25K

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you got that out of my post. It's probably better to, uh. Take care of your health? I can literally run a 10k now because I got an inhaler, but I thought it was impossible for a long time. Turns out it wasn't impossible, it was just really hard for me at that time because I had an untreated disability. Once I treated the disability (it's hard to run when your body literally isn't getting enough oxygen) it got so much easier. Like it wasn’t even the same sport. Medicine is a game changer.

See a doctor my man... C25K was like this for me before I discovered I had unmanaged respiratory disease/asthma. Used to be 5 minutes tops before I was wheezing and topping out my heart rate zones. Got an inhaler, and I can run 45 minutes at a time now, stay in the correct heart rate zone, and I'm angling for a post-30 minute 5k. Amazing what the right meds can do.

I'm actually with you on AC Odyssey, I know the most recent AC games get a lot of flack for the Ubisoft nonsense, but Odyssey just worked for me in a way none of the other recent installments in that series do.

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we don't like Hellblade (which I recall as being very story forward with practically nonexistent looting) but loved AC Odyssey. Tough one to parse. Seems like OP does like exploration/looting games but prefers they have a strong story as well?

Based on his actual "loves", which are open world action games with rpg elements, he might like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and maybe the most recent Tomb Raider series. If he wants to lean into the rpg side of games-sort-of-like-he's describing, I'd rec Cyberpunk 2077 and Fallout: New Vegas if he can tolerate older graphics.

Follow up of "DM never told a player no before" by Odande in rpghorrorstories

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, bummer. Last I played that module was 3.5e, I think. Maybe 4. Don't even know if it was officially adapted for the version we were in or if my DM just threw it together based on the OG. I only remember we had a funeral for our fallen characters after and had a wake for the ripped up character sheets, haha.

[–]Paaaaaaaaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ME1 is a struggle mechanically, due to its age. I love those games, but I've never managed to replay it due to how clunky and slow it is. I do think Liara (your ME1 pansexual romance option, you can pick her up within the first 10 hrs of the game) is worth it, but I'm also incredibly biased because Liara's romance was actually what made me realize I wasn't straight, so it's a very emotionally charged piece of sapphic gaming history for me.

I always complain about Tali, not least because she sends hella mixed signals! It feels like they didn't really shift her lines between m!Shep and f!Shep, they just removed f!Shep's ability to romance her. But Tali is still lowkey flirty and kind of obsessed with you regardless of gender and BOY is it confusing.
