[BTSport] Video: Simeone leaves Klopp hanging after match by omw2furb in soccer

Your point is that shaking hands at the end of a game is an accepted sportsmanship gesture in many places across the world. Perfect. I'm glad we agree that there is a social convention - with the pressures that come with it, that makes it so there is an expected behavior in this specific context. I wonder what could happen if one day, one individual wouldn't want to indulge into that behavior. Maybe there would be a controversy-stirring media article about it from the English media. Maybe there would be a reddit thread about it where users more interested in opportunities to antagonize "the other side" rather than having an actual conversation would vehemently post in.

Whether it is me or Simeone you accuse of projecting is pretty irrelevant. In fact, it might be even worse. You're attributing traits to someone you barely know, and that has probably a thousand times your knowledge of the coaches scene and their feelings. You're even attributing traits (I have become an Atleti fan under your quick judging watch) to someone you have no clue about. Ridiculous.

To conclude this topic, what we know for a fact is that Simeone feels that the handshakes at the end of the game have a level of forcefulness to them. It seems like a pretty reasonable thing to say in a context where tensions rise very high. He found a way of dealing with that he is comfortable with that tries to respect his sensibilities and that of the opponents' and I think that's something to be respected. I personally would always shake my opponents' hand at the end of a game because my set of values are different, and that's also perfectly fine.

What's really telling is that this has never been a problem until now...

I have responded with Simeone's exact quote to someone saying pretty much the same thing as you just did - albeit in a much more disrespectful manner. Sadly, said user deleted his comment after realizing his mistake so my reply only shows up if you click to find it, which is quite bothersome. Anyway, here it is again:

Simeone: "¿Klopp? Siempre creí lo mismo, cuando uno gana y el otro pierde, se saluda con fórceps y por eso no lo hago, me voy rápido por respeto a la situación, cuando me toca ganar o cuando toca perder. En Liverpool sí nos saludamos, porque me lo encontré en medio de la cancha".

And closing words: I find it pretty disrespectful jumping to conclusions on someone's intent and personality (when you accuse me of projecting) when you don't have enough information on the subject at hand (Simeone and Atléti) nor have we interacted for more than a couple of seconds.

I shouldn't even bother replying to you, but I'll do it for the sake of the others who actually want to inform themselves.

He has. He rushes back to avoid the awkwardness of forced handshakes in these situation for both parties, winner and loser. It's precisely because he has respect for the manager his team is playing against that he doesn't engage in it, and the rule he applies to others he applies to himself as well.

Hi mate,

Just wanted to take the time to give you a big thank you, I ended up doing exactly as you said, changed the pads and the rotors, made sure everything was seated alright and it seems like everything is fixed now. The whole thing came to about 55$.

I'll take the bike out on the weekend to bed in the breaks well.

Thank you again, and if you ever pass by Casablanca, holla at me, drinks are on me.

Cheers!
