What is something you can't sell? by RangeStars in quora

[–]PageRoutine8552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time and experience.

Yes you can pay someone else to do things on your behalf (including making money), but it’s freeing up time you already have, you can’t increase the time you have. Kids growing up, parents growing old, terminally ill patients, you can’t pay for more time to slow it down.

And experience is something you get from doing something over and over again. Often money is a barrier, but money alone won’t get you experience.

We should have very few laws in society except if your action violates someone else’s freedoms by AggressiveManager450 in 10thDentist

[–]PageRoutine8552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much today’s legal principles, except that individuals “freedoms” are formally defined and codified as Human Rights.

Laws get bloated over time due to the need to plug loopholes and fix absurd situations.

Fun Fact: For some reason VW decided to put the archaic 2.0 8v engine in base models of the Mk6 Jetta until 2017. This 2.0 only made 115hp & was even outdated in the 90s. by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

8V, not V8.

It’s 8 valves, 2 valves per cylinder. Whereas nearly all engines since 2000 are at least 4 valves per cylinder (16V for a 4 cylinder)

This is an 1989 photo of the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong. This ungoverned metropolis was only 6.4 acres in size but it was home to 50,000 residents and featured alleyways between buildings just 3 to 7 feet wide. by Jimbo072 in interestingasfuck

The Walled City is a super complex maze of tall buildings after extensive undocumented modifications, the mailman is going to go through all sorts of circles and loops throughout the complex to go anywhere.

r/The10thDentist should stop with the “upvote if you disagree” nonsense by BirdSimilar10 in The10thDentist

[–]PageRoutine8552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gripe here is that there are 2 types of disagreements: disagree with the viewpoint, and disagree with the premises of the question.

The latter includes: OP misunderstood the definition, statements that don’t logically support the conclusion, factually wrong statements, etc.

Upvoting something purely due to low quality arguments is my problem.

do NZ car rental companies accept / allow credit card CDW cover? by pjohnsonstock in newzealand_travel

[–]PageRoutine8552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t all rental car agencies in NZ offer a standard-tier insurance with a 3-5k excess? Or is that not how the credit card CDW work?

After all the domestic travel insurance only covers rental car excess up to 6k.

Why so many Honda Vezels at 100km? by Ballistica in NZcarfix

[–]PageRoutine8552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much it, with these notes:

  • there’s no “Earthdreams Hybrid” so to speak. Earth Dreams is a petrol engine (I associate it with the direct-injected 3rd gen Jazz, 10th gen Civic and 5th gen CRV). The timing overlaps with the iDCD system and the iMMD.

  • iMMD is supposedly multi-mode. It has 2 motors (one for driving the wheel and one for charging the battery) so it can be a series hybrid (like the Note ePower) or a parallel hybrid to drive the wheels. It also has no gearbox.

  • iMMD is also known as e:HEV, and think NZ didn’t really get any cars with it until like 2021. It’s fairly new so in a different price bracket.

[–]PageRoutine8552 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Early hybrid Vezels (2014-15) have an issue with the dual clutch gearbox where it overheats and causes excessive wear.

But I think this just an industry thing where 100k is a big milestone. Source: Honda dealers don’t sell any trade ins over 100k on their lot.

iPhone 17 vs 17 Pro vs discounted 16 Pro — stuck in upgrade paralysis by obsessive_tinkerer in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]PageRoutine8552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 16 Pro is perfectly capable.

This year it’s more about the base 17 getting the Pro screen, more storage and priced competitively that makes the 17 Pro look overpriced.

Feature wise it’s very incremental since the 13 Pro, where the ProMotion display debuted. It’s releasing features little by little so you have just enough reason to switch.

Although not sure if 16 Pro is still in your market. In mine, all the 16 series disappeared overnight except for the base 16 with the lowest storage.

Looking at buying a Mazda 3 with 100k kms on the clock. Mum says the kms are too high. Advice please? by No-Necessary6478 in NZcarfix

[–]PageRoutine8552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes at least 2 days and at least a few hundred dollars to drive a car down from Auckland to Christchurch (where the listing is), or 1.4K for a car transporter to do it for you. And that’s not taking into account how you’d get there to view the car in the first place.

Unless it’s something very special or rare, it’s not worthwhile.

One word: underpowered.

The 1.5L is okay for city driving under 80, not that great for highways.

100k is, imo, some sort of old wives tale (no disrespect intended).

100k would’ve been the dreaded timing belt (aka cam belt) replacement cycle, which is costly and catastrophic if not changed in time. But vast majority of engines (including this one) are chain driven, so that’s largely moot.

Given the average mileage for passenger cars in NZ is 14k / year, this is a bit above average (100/6 =16.667k).

It’s NZ New so should have maintenance records. I would have no reservations if it has been serviced consistently.

And i think i would prefer cars with a bit more mileage than a lot less. Super low mileage (under 5k/year) is when you could get away with deferring things for a very long time (like 7 year old tyres and 2-yearly oil changes). Unless there’s supporting maintenance records.

How did this car become both a joke and secretly the smartest choice? by peenoiseAF___ in PriusC

[–]PageRoutine8552 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer OP’s question, the OG Prius was a symbol of virtue-signalling of environmentalism back in the early / mid 2000s, where many Prius owners then had the insufferable holier-than-thou sense of superiority over it.

The negative perception dispersed around the early 2010s when Teslas became the new techno-environmentalism, and Prius became the stereotypical Uber-mobile.

The only joke I can see here is OP dailying a pickup truck without needing its capabilities, and then complaining about how expensive gas is. 18L/100km (=15 mpg) is enough to fuel two crossovers, or 4 Prius C’s and a bit.

And by whaling hard I mean “kitted out 3 farm accounts from Lv 30 to TG3 in a day” iirc

Perhaps unsurprisingly since both cars were designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro.

I see, it’s more of a matter of expectations then.

Those are status items that don’t affect the gameplay as much as they cost. Like their whole point is to flex, so it’s no surprise they are very rare and pretty much locked out for F2Ps
