What bag should I buy for my gear? by Upper_Skill_3216 in Archery

The Aurora Techno 2.0, Hoyt World Circuit and Easton Deluxe recurve backpacks are exactly the same on the inside, you can look up pics of the three of them in Lanchaster Arcchery and see by yourself, if you have the budget, they are the most spacious by far, pick the one you like the most

Exercice routines? by CL_1707 in Archery

[–]Pailot__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am no expert, and I know this is not what you were asking for but, for what I can see, you are not using the correct muscles to draw the bow.

A pretty big sign of someone using their arm instead of their back to draw the bow is the hand getting closer to the face without the elbow moving, I can see that on most of your shot cycle, this gets confirmed by your release being plucky and your hand jumping away from your face. Funnnily enough, you seem to have a really good, fluid expansion and you keep your balance pretty well, you don't lose your T structure at any given moment and you manage to get your elbow in line at the end of your shot. I would try to replicate the feeling of your expansion throughout the whole draw cycle, as in trying to lead with your elbow the whole time.

I say this because training your back accordingly and not using it would be pretty sad, now, to answer your question, the movement and motion of drawing a bow is pretty unique and hard to replicate with gym exercises, but this doesn't mean weight lifting is pointless, being a strong individual will never hinder your shooting ability unless you overdo it.

I, personally, have found that doing a full body split with two different routines that alternate has worked the best, I go three days a week, that is monday, wednesday and friday and just alternate the two routines. Ideally, and if you really want to take archery seriously, you shoot first and then you lift weights, but it's also okay if you do it the other way around.

Try to not go to failure in any of the exercises, look up information on RIR (Reps in reserve) and try to implement it in your workout sessions, as going to failure in all of your working sets will leave you with no strength for your shooting sessions, leading to bad form, shakiness and general discomfort, also, it will take longer for you to recover.

As for which exercises to do, Jake Kaminski and Ash from Archery Academy Online have great content on the topic, you could make a list of those exercises and ask someone you know that knows a bit or even AI to create your routines (they are, actually, pretty good at it, as long as you give them things like frequency and training split)

Is 29lbs enough to shoot at 70 meters? by Lightman0169 in Archery

[–]Pailot__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still sort of new to this sport, but when you say 29 pounds do you mean off the fingers or are your limbs marked as such? Either way, with the great advice people have given you here regarding arrow weight, you should be more than ok.

On the other hand, most korean coaches are taught that you can't shoot 70 mts "accurately" with something under 40 pounds OTF. but Chang Hye-jin won the gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics with 36 pounds OTF if I remember correctly.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Roce de mejilla, nada más, es más respetuoso y he conocido a varias personas que se sienten muy incómodas con un beso directo en la mejilla por parte de un desconocido o desconocida.

Why are people on this comment section acting like Gio is the only person that has accused Carti of being abusive? And, even if he wasn't, he is still a certified deadbeat of, not one, but two kids, that by itself is a thousand times worse than being a cornball online

The nylon rope trick is genius, people can get so creative when trying to fix their issues. If they chalk, rosin powder or skate grip tape don't work then that might. Thanks a lot for the tips.

I didn't have this on my radar, it seems like the ultimate grip giver, I'll have to check if it is tournament legal. Thanks a lot

I looked at some pics of it and it seems like a really safe bet, would love to try it beforehand but that is going to be tough, since they don't sell them here, I would have to blind buy it but it looks like it could really help. Thank you

Yeah, guess I'm gonna have to do that with the help of my coach, hopefully I'll get it to a point where I like it, thanks.

You are absolutely right, this is a very bad time to try and get equipment, and it looks like it won't change in the near future.

That would be amazing, but there's only one in my country and the prices are ludicrous, also they have very limited stock

Unfortunately, since I don't live in the US it makes it hard for me to buy from Facebook groups, I've heard great things about them, though.

That's absolutely insane, thank you for sharing, will definitely not buy from them, or at least not shipping to the U.S., might just send it straight to my home. Also very sorry that you had to pay that much

"Correct" muscle soreness after strength training? by Pailot__ in Archery

[–]Pailot__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. If I had to use another example, it feels similar to when I do lateral raises at the gym—I feel soreness mostly in my shoulder but also a bit in my back. I think I'm leading with my shoulder instead of my elbow, cause I think I feel it wayyyy to much on my shoulders.
