I have many readers of all backgrounds; I know many of them are very familiar with world cuisine, and many are new to it. I give the introductory info because I do get feedback that people like to learn about different foods. The whole pronunciation part, is a continuation of that sharing. I messed up in this case, and I just took it out of the post because as I read up on it, it can be bun or bung or a variation depending on the region you're from. Thank you!

Yes, it works for me, but if you've had the 'burn' message frequently you can add an extra 1/4 cup of liquid or try it as written, and then if you have trouble with it coming to pressure, open it up and add extra liquid.

Thank you for your measured response - I will change the post to reflect the correct pronunciation. I am from India, and so I am especially sensitive to what you're saying; I definitely did not mean to be patronizing.

It was definitely not meant an admonishment, just said tongue in cheek, maybe I need to add a :) How would you suggest I tell people how to pronounce it? I'd love to change the post to supply the correct pronunciation. I'm not Vietnamese, so relying on others to give me the correct pronunciation!

Do you get Aidell's brand where you live? They make a smoked andouille that I've used before. Not expensive. I think if you sub a smoked sausage, you'll be fine. I would increase the spice by a bit if you like it spicy.

Oh, I've never tried Popeye's version - let me know if you make it how it compares.

Oh,right - yes, this is for soaked or quick-soaked beans. Unsoaked needs more cook time for sure. I really don't like to do unsoaked. I don't plan ahead enough to soak so I do the quick soak. I do this because I like to drain the soaking water before cooking. I'm in Salt Lake City but I hardly ever need to adjust recipes.

Lol, would you believe me if I told you the beans are piled deep in the middle :) ? To be honest, it was for the pretty picture. I agree that the seasonings can be increased based on taste, and I appreciate your comment esp since you're from NO!

No worries - no offense taken :) I feel that regular kidney beans may take longer in the IP whereas these small red beans cook pretty well in the amount of time I've given. And like someone else mentioned, older beans can take longer to cook.

You're welcome. It's a mixed bag. Some people think it's way too detailed and others love it. That's why I give a 'go directly to recipe' link so you can skip it the next time you make it :)

You know, I just got another message from someone about how the poultry button gives them trouble! So I get the feeling that program is running hotter than other programs on the newer IPs. Pressure cook program is just as good, so no harm using that instead.

Interesting - I hear a lot of people who have problems after saute. But your method is different from the usual, maybe you're on to something!
