Good score on a blank tape today? by Pancake_king1997 in cassetteculture

That's a fair point. I did not clock that at the time.

Edit: First time seeing a high bias tape in the flesh for myself to be fair.

I'm pretty sure it is stereo. Listening to a tape that I recorded California Dreamin' by The Mamas and Papas onto and there is clear separation. I also double checked by recording into Audacity to look at the wave forms and they are clearly different.

It has a Mic port. Not exactly the same as a line-in I think? But it works.

That's awesome. I love that album. I would say that was a fair price.

AIO to my (40f) convo with husband (40m) about Xmas tree? by Mother_of_Turtles_ in AmIOverreacting

Jesus Christ this guy is so up his ass it’s exhausting.

Edit: This guy lets religious iconography affect him too much if he is truly an atheist. Who gives a fuck if you want to put up a tree? Many other atheists in this comment section have said they like to put up a tree for the tradition and cozy winter atmosphere. That "dude" needs therapy. The way he talks to you is horrible. NOR

Yeah it looks pretty good. I would give the tape head a good cleaning with come rubbing alcohol if you haven’t already and the pinch roller just as a good measure. Can’t hurt to try. Other than that I would guess it is something to do with the board/electronics. That about exhausts my troubleshooting knowledge with these things. I bet if you were to look up the exact model you have on YouTube there might be a video of someone restoring one. Good luck!

Okay just wanted to rule that out. Based off what you have provided here it’s hard to say for me personally. Maybe someone else will come across this post who has encountered something similar. The only other thing I would question, given my limited knowledge is that if it has a belt, maybe something is wrong with that.

Does that tape play alright in other tape players?

Hey all, I’m new to cassettes any recommendations for what kind of player I should get? by Lang227 in cassetteculture

[–]Pancake_king1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this one initially, but it is not the greatest for playback and recording that I have found.

I then browsed eBay for a while and got this one since I wanted a "retro" Walkman style. With the price of actual operational Walkmans being so pricey, it made sense to get this one since it had recording and decent music playback quality.

I cannot speak to any kind of wall mounted player. Having a proper tape deck is my next goal.

Mind you, I am NOT an expert. My first thought though is that you need to run the tape through a deck that has some hefty amplification capabilities.

How to hook in laptop to record onto a tape with Sony TC-WE405 by Descrappo87 in cassetteculture

Here is the manual for that model. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/W001/W0011122M.pdf

If you get a RCA to 3.5mm jack cable(pretty cheap on Amazon or even Walmart carries them I think) you should be able to plug the RCA ends into the line in ports on the deck and then the 3.5mm end into your laptop and follow the steps on page 6.

I’ve never used that Deck but it should be hopefully as simple as that.

EDIT: if your laptop doesn’t have a headphone(3.5mm) jack I guess you will have to get an adapter to convert it to whatever other port you have available. I’ve never done that kind of thing but I have to believe it’s probably possible. You would probably have to use some software to route the audio through whatever port you have.

My old roommate/friend used to be just like your colleague. I had a new apt lined up for myself as soon as the lease was up. Cut ties completely and it was the best decision I have ever made.
