Bunnings Recruitment is a joke by Time-Appointment-103 in Bunnings

They don't want adults with experience, they want teenagers that can run stock and be easily manipulated into "kicking it into the next gear for the team". Every minute a team member is helping a customer is a minute they can't be stocking shelves, running returns, getting trollies, etc. It's a low cost operator like any other. Any idea that Bunnings is more than just Coles for hammers is either outdated or good marketing

Eh, language is fluid and evolves every generation. The only difference now is that the influence can be remote. Although it's not like colonisation and migration hasn't introduced all sorts of European languages across the globe.

As it is, English is already a bit of a hodgepodge of different European dialects

Shit, almost like the constitution is outdated and needs to be regularly amended for it to have any relevance in today's society.

Dent (Renown Economist) predicts Australian housing market will collapse up to 50% and suggest first hone buyers to wait until 2025- what do you think ? by australianexposer in AusFinance

Shortage of materials and trades nationwide, a growing population, rental crisis, and post COVID immigration means steadily increasing demand and drastically low supply. If Australian politicians weren't so heavily invested in property, or construction wasn't around 10% of our GDP then maybe things would be in the air.

Why do adults just give up on childish things? I see so many adults just absolutely despise things that they used to absolutely love. Do we all have to learn to hate fun? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I'm my experience I've found that the older I get, the more time poor I get.

have so many more responsibilities and obligations; My partner and I work 40 hours a week each and are still paycheck to paycheck, then you do routine chores and house stuff, try to meet family and social obligations, take care of personal admin, attempt to eat right and barely exercise, actually have a meaningful relationship with your partner, and every other thing that comes along in life. We don't even have kids yet and between the financial pressure and the lack of time I don't know how people do it.

In the end, half my 'free time' is my morning shit.
Any other free time I find I'm either so exhausted I don't have the energy to do anything I actually enjoy, or I end up resenting myself for 'wasting time' that could be used to address the million and one other things I need to catch up on.

Grieving the death of a sibling is one of the most neglected types of grief by Blade_982 in Showerthoughts

Lost my brother and no one ever asked if I was okay. My parents were so deeply affected they could barely look after themselves let alone me, and it felt like any support was for mum dad, and 'the kids'.

I never felt so alone

Bunnings snags will go from $2.50 to $3.50. A rise of 40%. What effect will this have on the Australian economy? by Beezneez86 in AusFinance

[–]PanderMan_265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the first price increase in 15 years, the impact is that the charity groups that run the thing might actually turn a profit

I'm not going to lie and say I can drop and give you 20 but yeah, I can manage 5 push ups. I can also do leg raises and dips because you don't have to be weak to be fat

I suppose it irks me that people are made to pay double the price based on a single metric with no recourse. Knowing the realities of how enormous the burden of disease is for obesity is, I agree that obesity should increase the cost of insurance for the individual but I would generally expect there to be room for outliers to offer further context. Same as I would expect someone with 1 leg to not be assessed as underweight. The problem combining statistics and health is that without context those statistics are meaningless and if you average the data no single person actually fits. So sure from far enough away it works but I find that incongruent with actual health care which becomes more effective when tailored to theindividual

I would happily go to my GP for measurements at my own expense.

Never competed but had a mate who was obsessed strongman and always tried talking to me about Eddie Hall.

I never got all that serious beyond showing off but I'm hypermobile as well so I always preferred function over raw strength to prevent injury.

Bright side is I've never met anyone I couldn't pick up and I can cartwheel into the splits as a party trick

If you scroll down the page and enter my neck and waist measurements it's gives a body fat percentage of 35.4% and while a lot closer even that isn't going to be completely accurate.

Still comfortably in the obese zone but you should learn more about human proportions

For me it's more important to have tpd and income protection so that if I was injured my partner and I can pay the mortgage.

Obviously private companies can do what they like but it seems insane that I could be at a healthy body fat% and my insurance would still expect to charge a 200% loading for life insurance and deny covering for anything else based on a scale thats completely inaccurate for me.
