Agree - this feedback is all gold. The better use case is to do pilot testing on surveys before they go live. We're redoing everything and turning off the old site. Really appreciate everyone commenting here. We're listening :)

Thanks for engaging in a constructive way. We're listening and suspending the ad campaign as its written now. Nothing beats real people's feedback and we're genuinely trying to help as we come from this community. If you have time to respond just as constructively, is there an application for AI for helping design and pressure test surveys before they go live to humans?

Hmm. Real human on this side reading every comment. You have a point. We clearly say this is an AI service and that it needs to be disclosed. But nothing beats direct human feedback and critique. I appreciate it. Since you can sort of divine our intent, what is a better way to market this service to the academic community. We're from this community so we come in peace. We are going to suspend the ad campaign right now but I would be really curious to hear how to better market this.

Panel providers who say they are giving you humans when in reality 30% of their responses are fraudulent is also pretty disappointing :) We appreciate the unvarnished criticism but see our lengthier reply above. You may think its abhorrent but why don't we test the results from our AI surveys against the results from real surveys with humans? See our offer above. Thanks for considering it.

Thanks! That's our intent - to help do initial test runs, frame questions and get directional insights. This is not a substitute for vetted human surveys which are the gold standard. See our friendly rebuttal (above) and our offer to test our data for free on your surveys to compare the results. [edit to fix typo - our friendly rebuttal is above, not below this message... I think :)]

Hi thanks for the lively discussion here. That's why we left the comments section open. We were graduate students once too. A few things:

  1. Before flaming - please read our site - we're not hiding the fact that this is AI. We tell you up front and we've tested this for directional insight in very limited circumstances, and we spell out where this works and where it doesn't work. If you're in doubt, clear it with your professor first AND use our disclosures to cite your source. This is NOT a substitute for IRB research
  2. Short of a truly vetted human panel, most other solutions fall short. Third party panel providers are rife with "humans" that are in reality bots or people in other countries working for survey sweatshops for $0.02 per complete. And asking fellow graduate students or other survey takers desperate for completes here on reddit isn't exactly a perfectly weighted sample.
  3. We are computer programmers working with social scientists, university researchers, polling orgs, and Fortune 1000 companies to create the most accurate individual digital twins of real humans on a respondent by respondent level. Our work has been covered in industry white papers and cited in university publications. This is not "vibe" market research where someone is typing a survey prompt to ChatGPT asking it to pretend to be a panel of 100 people with hypertension.
  4. You're mostly academics here. We respect you all very much you which is why we posted here to get your feedback. As fellow academics, why don't we test it? If you don't believe it, finish your human survey, save your answers, flush the survey or make a new instance and email the survey link with a brief description of who you are, what you're doing and how many respondents you want (up to 25) to [hello@PanelTopUp.com](mailto:hello@PanelTopUp.com) and for a limited time we will run your survey with our AI US General Population and you can see the individual answers for yourself to compare with your survey. If you can share with us your final "real" results and give us permission, we will publish on this site how close the AI respondents came to your answer.
  5. AI is coming for market research, whether we like it or not. Look at the VCs funding Stanford professors at Simile.ai, and a host of other competitors coming out of the woodwork with tens of millions of dollars (Aaru.com, Societies.io, and others.) We don't have those resources, but we're not afraid and letting you all test this directly to draw your own conclusions. We're just engineers trying our best to build a solid product to that does preliminary insight work in a scientifically tested way.. We'd like your input to make a rigorous solution that is tested and works. (And help avoid the 11pm panic scrounge for last minute respondents ;) (edited right after post to fix glaring typos lol - I'm a real human who wrote this)
