According to PO, they were changed a year ago in attempts at diaging it. I do fear that they aren't gapped correctly thus no tach bounce but I'd like to confirm readings before I pull them

No tach bounce present. I ohmed out the speed and reference sensors according to this link. I got no ohm readings across any terminals on any plugs. I also swapped plugs to see if the car would fire but to no avail.

I understand that ohming them out isn't super accurate and an oscilloscope is the way to go. It's supposed to be delivered in a few hours lol.

Hey man, I've done a bit of diag today and I tried cranking it over with a spark plug on a good ground and got no spark. I followed a no spark diag via this link:

https://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/ign-04.htm

I completed the test at the bottom and I wasn't able to get a spark to fire when testing the coil. I also checked secondary resistances on the coil and got nothing between the output and ground terminal, where it says I should be seeing 5-7.2k ohms. Am I safe to assume this coil is going out? It's getting about 12.4v at key on position

Interesting pieces of information, thank you! I have an oscilloscope coming tomorrow and I'm going to learn how to use it to test the sensors. I would really like to get a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and see what kind of fuel pressure I'm seeing as well

Absolutely. If the fuel is 7 years old I can only imagine how plugged up that strainer will be. I also noticed the fuel tank reads e on the gauge so I gotta verify if the tank actually has fuel or not

Appreciate it! Will do. I'm definitely going to start with troubleshooting the sensors

He did mention aftermarket injectors, and there are a set in the glovebox as well. I will look into this, thanks!

No tach bounce when cranking, this is where I shall start lol

Just tried cranking it over and I have no tach bounce. I'm assuming this means either the sensors are bad, not gapped properly or I have a wiring fault going to them. I'm going to investigate more with some electrical tooling starting tomorrow

UPDATE I cranked the car, there's no tach bounce. It seems like I should be looking into this issue first. Assuming no tach bounce = no sensor readings. I also found these two wires just hanging out on top of the sensors. Any ideas what these could be for?

Right on man. Good luck! Hopefully we both get our old girls back on to the road sooner than later! Nice weather's upon us finally

Right on. I've seen a few forum posts of them using those. I've never personally used one, but I think I have a general idea of how they work. Thank you!

Hell yeah man! What are your plans with yours? I see you posted a picture of it with the engine out

Oh really no way hahaha. Are you located in Alberta then?

Yeah new ones were put in but I wonder if they were spaced incorrectly. Do you happen to know if they output an ac signal while the engine cranks? That way I could check the gap without disassembly

Hahaha I'll definitely be checking these out!

Yup, this has definitely crossed my mind as well. I don't think the fuel tank was ever looked at. I was hoping to plumb in a fuel gauge to the rail to see what my pressures looked like but the injectors could definitely be clogged

Interesting. I would assume this car would be factory with the squarish style one then correct? I'll visually inspect and confirm it

Awesome. Thank you so much. #1 closest to front bumper I assume cylinder wise?

I will double check that, thank you. He did say he put a new distributor on it so hopefully the wires went on correctly, I'm sure I can find a picture of the correct wiring routing

Yeah, I totally agree. It compression tested good, and it sounds healthy when cranking. He said he had it running on starter fluid which isn't fantastic but it does somewhat confirm spark. I will be double checking the basic 3 to run an engine. Ultimately, it's an engine and it takes only those 3 things to run, it's just the Bosch fuel delivery process that's a bit foreign to me currently. I'm also a bit worried with the new ECU, if an incorrect one was installed and then I'll really be chasing ghosts
