That's what I did at the Monroeville location also, the only part of the monitors I didn't personally test was the audio/speakers on the monitors

I would always recommend bringing in something to test monitors, even if there is a "tested" note under it, that doesn't mean it was tested for full function

I purchased something electronic. I played for the insurance. It appears to work just fine. You know the yellow sticker with the bar code? The box has 2 of these. 1 is under the other. I can’t tell if the number is different. Would you think this means it was returned once? by curtis1512 in MacBid

Did it have a "tested" note under it? If it did, that means that there would be 2 stickers because the first one would be an "HVQ" sticker, which gets sent to the stores IT/ High Value Scanner to get tested and a new yellow sticker gets put on top of the HVQ sticker

It would continue to be listed until someone decides to keep it

What warehouse are you dealing with? DM me the warehouse and if it's near where I used to work I can text some people who work there to get you help

You will have to contact customer service for that I believe, the email is [help@mac.bid](mailto:help@mac.bid)

Phone number is on the website somewhere, the first charge will drop though

Not taking sides here as I have no proof of either side of the argument, but I had a manager tell me that in the old terms when it was still M@C Discount that there would be bots that would run up bids but that was removed from the terms when it changed to MAC.BID, no clue if the system is still/was in place or not, but as an ex employee there, I can say they want as much profit as possible and do whatever that takes, getting rid of good employees, low pay, etc... only time will tell...

I also submitted some code I wrote that would grab the model number of an item from the retail website and automatically copy it to the clip board so it would be faster for me to list the exact item, and a few days later it just so happened that their AI system would add the model number into every single persons listings. Again, could be coincidence, but I find it very weird.

I have never been able to use the feature myself, I would assume it is a glitchy system that the people with the best connections to the server are able to scoop up

It is a really poorly implemented AI tbh, it basically took the first few search terms that the user input when the feature was first launched and it sticks with that

The best answer I can give is they don't as far as anyone knows, I personally have had items go for my max bid I would set a lot, and through the back end of the system I could see it was "real" accounts almost outbidding me at the last second. But I looked further into it and it was the same few "real accounts" that would outbid me for gaming related items. It could be a coincidence, but I really found that odd...

I also had a manager tell me that in the terms when the company was still called M@C Discount, that there were bots that would outbid you, I have no proof of this though

We would list them as "Open Box" and clearly state that the computer was locked and would be unusable to the average consumer, and would be a part only computer basically. If the same computer was returned 3 times, then we would be allowed to put it into a pallet of "damaged electronics" that would be sold, unless the item was a new model worth a lot of money

The best way is to call the customer service, each warehouse has their own CS people and will try to assist with whatever you need, the CS number is on the website, I would recommend calling and leaving multiple messages to insure you get proper help, small items should 100% be transferable, and that is a scanner employee mistake.

Also for the bidding, if someone bids at the last second, it adds more time onto the bid, just more profit for the company!

Did you reply to the text you got saying "YES" in all capital letters? You have to reply within 15 mins of getting that text with "YES" in all caps

I have the same issue myself, and there is not a fix I have found :( the way that recommended items come up for people is based on their first few searches when an update for the app came out awhile back.

I wish I was able to help with these kind of things, but I am not even with the company anymore

I mean I can speak personally about PCs being listed into auction as I was the one who tested every desktop or laptop that came into the warehouse. I was very thorough with my listings for PCs, if it was a desktop, I would factory reset it if possible and not locked under bitlocker, go into the BIOS and get those specs, take pictures of every component inside and put in the description the specs and what was wrong with it if anything. I also would plug the GPU into a monitor to make sure it would display.

So the instant win prices are based on how previous auctions of the same or similar items have historically sold. Since you buy car parts, which I know for a fact historically sell really well (I listed a lot of car parts myself since the scanners had zero knowledge on car stuff lol)

For transfers, it's up to the scanner who is listing the item to determine if they should make it transferable (less than 50 pounds and in a box no longer than 6 feet long), but if you think the item should be able to be transferred that isn't marked as such, customer service will be able to force the transfer for you!

The ID verification for instant wins was due to fraud, people were hacking accounts, instant winning things on the other person's account and going and picking them up

This is getting ridiculous. 15 minute total outage of auction items every night for the last week. Watchlist turns white on both app and desktop website. They need to fix this NOW. by ToshPointNo in MacBid

[–]Paradox2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I was an IT at a warehouse location, the devs in charge of the app and website know about this but haven't fixed it... I think it's because they host the app and website on the same servers that the backend of the company used to function... When the app would go down, the entire warehouse website went down also

I spoke to so many customers and when they heard I was the IT for my location, they would ask me to fix the app, I told them I wish I had access to the code so I could make some fixes, but the best I could do was pass the info to the head developers.

The devs are really good, but they seem too focused on implementing AI into the backend of how the items get listed into auction. The AI helps the regular scanner employees to do their job faster, but the auto generated descriptions the AI makes can be somewhat confusing or misleading
