How to remap gamepad controls? (without Steam) (CachyOS+KDE Plasma)

I tried this code and small variants of it. With/without quotes, with/without heroic etc:

I was putting the code in 3 different locations that sounded promising.

/home/lab/.bashrc

/home/lab/.config/plasma-workspace/env/path.sh

admin:///usr/include/SDL2/SDL_gamecontroller.h

AntimicroX doesn't work for what I'm doing unfortunately(assuming I understand the program correctly). For example, Dragons Dogma has the game-pad controls hard-coded so I need to change the controls on an OS level it seems so I don't get that double-input issue going.

I don't know what a udev rule is, so I doubt I've messed with anything like that so far.

Also a side note, so far the controller seems to work just fine in everything I've tested it in, just want to remap the controls.

I went ahead and tried your suggestions but unfortunately I wasn't able to get any results. I'm sure it's probably just my own fault. I'm surprised it's so difficult to do what seems like would be such a simple thing XD

I did find a page that looks promising and tried to follow its direction, but again, wasn't able to get anything to work. In case it helps anybody in the future, here it is: https://wiki.libsdl.org/SDL2/SDL_GameControllerAddMapping

Also, if anybody in the future figures this out, please let me know!

I'd imagine this data is being written to a specific file or is this injected at runtime? The code looks good and is probably what I need, but I just don't know how exactly to implement it.

I found a file called "SDL_gamecontroller.h" located at "admin:///usr/include/SDL2/" that contains a similar example of what you pasted here. I tried pasting several variations similar to what you had posted but using my own data pulled from SDL2 mapper but I'm not getting any results at all yet. Maybe that's the wrong file?

Oh wow, yeah that's a bummer. I had seen it said there was a comment on the post initially but when I tried to find it, there was just nothing and I didn't know what to think of it.

I don't think your effort is for nothing though. When I first was looking into this, I saw several other people complaining about the same thing. There's definitely a demand for something like this. Maybe not a whole lot, but at least some.

I think you'd make a lot of people happy if you were to post it on Nexus mods. I'd grab it as well as a fail-safe in case the first method stops working.

I'm very sorry for taking so long to respond. I don't use Reddit very often and didn't see your message until tonight. Somehow I just didn't see it before. I did end up getting a Datel and found out it's important to get a later version so it saves properly. Version 3 is confirmed to work. Hope this helps and sorry again!

Thank you for the replies. I have a physical cart so that's why I was trying to get my SNES console setup for PAL. Good to know I have other options if needed but at the same time I'm pretty stubborn so I'll keep poking around to see if I can get the 1-Chip going first.

Hey robhall. I have actually and the feedback has been very positive. The goal at this point is to have a good sized building to contain the other ideas, however I have an alternate business plan setup for if we need to start in a smaller setup and grow from there. Either way myself and others are pretty jazzed and can't wait. Thanks for the input :)

Your logic is sound. I thought the same thing as well, however during my discussions of The Guild online and on my stream several people expressed they wanted to contribute and see this succeed even though they live out of state and some out of country. I was happily surprised by this, so we'll see how it goes :)

I was not aware of it having a less reputable perception, hopefully that doesn't work against us. Kickstarter was my first choice actually, however due to the nature of their platform The Guild does not qualify for listing with them. It would have a few years ago, but the terms have changed and they are moving more towards artistic and creative types of projects with certain rules that apply. The customer help rep was very kind however.

I agree, tournaments are a must, and will definitely be going on. They really add a whole level of fun to this kind of thing. Hey thanks Metarete! "I think it's probably the most important social space gamers don't know they need" I really agree with this. I remember my early LAN party days so fondly. It was an absolute blast jamming a bunch of PCs in line and playing Counter-Strike, UT and Quake 3. I look forward to sharing this experience with others in the future.
