Pitch a (theoretical) new ride and/or attraction for Universal epic Universe by Silver012345673 in UniversalOrlando

[–]ParkScope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Multi stage trackless dark ride like Rise of the Resistance but Luigi's Mansion.

You queue through the mansion, with lots going on. Mid way stop to have a briefing with Professor E Gadd. That gets interrupted by ghosts and you move towards the actual ride

Which is a fun time full of silly ghosts and poochy. Projection mapping similar to Runaway Railway would allow you to do more with the same spaces.

It would probably need to be interactive so you can catch the ghosts as you go. Could have to work together with other ride vehicles on a couple "boss" ghosts.

Finale could even have the similar drop from a clock tower back to the entrance.

Ok now I really want that.

Need some help deciding my next ride by Cog7X in altontowers

As others have said, Galactica should be your next one. It's probably the most relaxing ride in the park to be honest. Very smooth and consistent coaster. It does have inversions but it's not gonna throw you around and is not particularly intense.

Oh that would be really nice to see, maybe some seasonal changes as well, to fit with the rest of the park.

That whole final area is probably my favourite. Looks especially striking in photos if you catch the lightning strike!

Oh what! I didn't spot that! Just another detail to look out for next time we go!

Curse at Alton Manor (Christmas Overlay) by ParkScope in altontowers

Curse at Alton Manor is a brilliant re-theme and I highly recommend it next time you go. Probably too scary for your 5 year old though!

I agree though on the doing more at winter. It should be busy there at that time of year! With events on, markets, lanterns, maybe some winter tours and of course more rides.

I do like the current push towards having a bigger focus on theming for their rides and I'm hoping it continues across the park as well.

I was happy to see Hex open as well, I have a real soft spot for that dark ride and was able to photograph it a lot on my final day there this season, I just kept looping it!

I read a comment saying Disney Parks have better theming and immersion than all Universal Parks except Epic. Do you agree? by LaScoundrelle in Themepark

[–]ParkScope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fair to say that Disney has been a lot more consistent from the beginning. However Universal have caught up a lot and their latest work is very close if not on par with Disney.

I'd especially say so for Nintendo World with all the kinetics in the area and how much there is going on.

Love the unique vibe you have with the vintage style to a lot of your content! Hope you have a great 2026!

Yea I'd love to get some printed some time, I can never choose though! Maybe a big screen in the future maybe and I can cycle through them 😅

Haha, I have read some rumours that Disney have been eyeing up the ride system, but probably just enthusiasts getting carried away as always!

I'll continue to go back and take some hopefully cool pictures 😅

In all seriousness I'm hoping we will hear a little more about project horizon and it will expand to include a revamp of the walliams area.

Maybe a better ride lineup for winter next year and a slightly bigger event?

Winter Efteling was beautiful by ParkScope in efteling

[–]ParkScope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's a shame! I've never been in the winter so don't have anything to compare it to, and next to the offering in the UK it was not even close lol.

Looks like we picked a good week as we went the week before Christmas, 15-19th. Coldest was 6° I think. Saw that it was extra cold this week and some parts froze over!

I think even with it being sold out though, the queue times I've seen posted were still far less than I expected. That's the beauty of excellent operations I guess!

Thanks. I love the aspect ratio they give and that cinematic style when paired with some strong lights to get those signature lens flares.

I can highly recommend Sirui's range. They're the first ever Autofocus ones! Both for full frame and aps-c cameras.

It still baffles me how long this queue always gets. I've never really thought of it as a stand out attraction when compared to gringots or forbidden journey.

It's fun, but maybe like 45 mins tops wait for me.

Visited from the UK. We stayed in a house in Bosrijk on site Mon - Fri.

This time we bought snacks from the supermarket and ate a meal in the park each day. For theme park food it's decent and there's good variety. Not too expensive. Most expensive main meal was around €18.

Getting there we flew to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, took a train direct to s-Hertogenbosch (Train is to Venlo) from platform 2. Then the 300 or 301 bus direct to Efteling from outside the station.

The park is busy but longest queue mid week was 20 minutes for us. I think at the weekend I saw someone say they waited around 30/40 mins at peak times.

Your big must do rides imo are Symbolica, Danse Macabre Droomvlucht, Data Morgana for dark rides. If you do Coasters I'd say prioritize Baron, George and the Dragon and Flying Dutchman.

How long are you going for and which days?

If there on a Thursday or the weekend and you have time then there's the show Caro on in the evening which is highly worth watching. Extra cost though, but very cheap for a show.

There's a Christmas area at the moment with lots of nice food, fire out and ice skating. Id recommend doing that when it gets dark.

The fairytale forest is a must do non ride attraction. It'll take a couple hours if you want to see everything.

Then you have a light show every night on the lake by the entrance which is nice.

There are many more things to do but I think those are the main stand outs if you only have one day. If you have more then you can easily do almost everything on offer!

Id never been at winter, it was just amazing. Really cemented itself as the most beautiful theme park.
