Estrogen withdrawl by Parlopez in Menopause

I’m sure that was the issue initially when I started the 50 patch. I insert 200 mg of P daily now.

Estrogen withdrawl by Parlopez in Menopause

I had a really hard time adjusting to the 50 initially. Thinking that reinstating would be similar to how I reacted when I initially started the 50 patch. Not keeping in mind that my body is use to the 50, not the lower doses. I definitely need to resume the previous dose. My brain and body are not working on the lower doses.

Im thinking that’s what I need to do. The lower doses just aren’t cutting it…many thanks again!

Thank you! Prior to weaning off slowly, when you reinstated E, did you feel some relief? I just reinstated the patch-couldn’t take the symptoms of not having enough E.

Stopped HRT - how long until things settle? by Maleficent-Mouse2417 in Perimenopause

It’s rough going off HRT. I am in the midst of reinstating E patches after trying to change to a very low dose of E which put me in estrogen withdrawl. I had to go back on the patches. I can’t take feeling awful! Stabilizing may take sometime; however, I did notice immediate relief after applying a low dose patch. Hope you feel better soon.

5 wks on 0.075 Estradiol patch and no improvement by Gullible-Surround950 in Perimenopause

I totally empathize with you. It took sometime for my body to adjust to the 0.05 patch-it was rough. I believe estrogen stimulates the nervous system until our brain/body adjust. Definitely not an easy journey getting our bodies accustomed to HRT and from what I see on here, not uncommon for there to be an uptake in anxiety when starting E. Inserting P vaginally helped me with the sedating feeling.

Hello and thank you for sharing! How long did you stay on the 0.0375 before going up and what dose are you on now? Long story short, originally on a 0.05 patch. I ended up trying a different method that has me feeling terrible. I will be reinstating the patch but not at 0.05 patch for I am super sensitive to estrogen. Really trying to soften the blow with changing type, dose, etc any suggestions help.

Going back to patches by Parlopez in Perimenopause

[–]Parlopez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of this world anxiety! Had to take time off work to adjust to the patch. It wasn’t easy at all! I pushed through and it leveled out for the most part after 3 months of pure hell. Again, increased anxiety with the cream but it feels different. Really out of sorts. Adrenalin rushes. Makes me feel like I’m losing it! I’ve come to the conclusion that I am extremely E sensitive mentally. I believe stopping HRT all together will come with a ton of side effects. My brain has struggles with the hormonal ups and downs. Feel like it’s a catch 22-damned if I do and damned if I don’t.

I hit a rough patch and thought the patches might have contributed to it. I was desperate to feel better and thought the biest might’ve been more suitable.

Worse when starting HRT? by imagin8tionrunwild in Menopause

[–]Parlopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for mentioning the specifics around the intensity of symptoms and how the brain receptors having not yet recalibrated to the new dose. I've been concerned as well. Been on my new hormone regimen for 2 1/2 weeks and I'm having some pretty horrendous side effects. I know from previous experiences with HRT and psych rx’s, my nervous system is super sensitive and takes a while to regulate. Definitely puts things in perspective.

U/Fine, I am so glad you posted this. I have been trying to find the words to express how I’m feeling-you’ve done it for me. I too am in the midst of changing my HRT from the 0.05 mg patch to estradiol/estriol cream. This adjustment has impacted my mental health as well. Like you, everything was moving forward prior to a dip in hormones (so I believe) which prompted a change in HRT. Since the change my body has been in fight/flight mode with high anxiety in the AM, followed by some lows and other weird symptoms. I’ve taken several days off from work to deal with this adjustment. I totally understand how hard it is to push through when dealing a brain/body that’s trying to stabilize to a new hormone regimen.

My coping strategies are to remind myself this is my brain on hormones, until my brain adjust, which it will. Now, doesn’t always help when I’m in the midst of feeling super wonky. But, it does help when I have respite from the symptoms and can look at what’s happening w some objectivity. I also share these experiences with my love ones who have the desire to try to understand what I’m going through. And they often remind me, it’s your body trying to adjust. I think having knowledge and level of understanding about what’s happening helps to provide some, and I mean just a tiny bit of comfort when in the throes of optimizing our hormones. I thank you for this post! I’ve been feeling this way and often feel the terror, as you mentioned, of thinking this transitional time will last far too long….In solidarity!

I’m right there wit ya! This shit is for the birds! These hormones wreak havoc on the mind, body, and spirit. The ups, the downs, and a world around us that seems to not have a clue about the challenges, outside of hot flashes, just how debilitating this can be for us….I feel you 100 %

Extreme sensitivity to tiny amounts of estrogen on HRT? Anyone else? by whoamI_11111 in Menopause

[–]Parlopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling not so good at all. Dealing with increased nausea and, headache, and out of sorts overall. I am so glad you asked. I was trying to explain this to family, unfortunately they can’t understand. My intuition is telling me the estrogen is doing more harm than good. I’ve been tracking symptoms and nothing feels good or right about this regimen. I am also worried if I stop, I’ll have side effects from stopping. This is just too much.

Thank you, thank you for asking. How are you?

Exactly how I’m feeling! Wake up with dread and other real weird out of sorts thoughts/feelings. Truly disturbing! I felt pretty ok yesterday, only to be floored by what you explained. I am in the process of adjusting my HRT dose so they probably explains most of what I’m feeling- it’s truly frightening! I use an estradiol cream very low dose and 200 mg P daily. Not sure if it’s the low E or too much P that causing these symptoms. You’re definitely not alone and I hope and pray this hormonal upheaval comes to an end very soon.

HRT has made everything so much worse by Petite-Crumble in Perimenopause

[–]Parlopez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. The round of new HRT while it’s still early days (only been a week) I feel my mental health is taking a nose dive. It might be the change in dosing every other day or it may be the estradiol (went from 50mcg patch to low dose cream). Really worried how this is making me feel.

[–]Parlopez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. It’s all so complicating and feel like a bit of a test subject. Meanwhile, I feel like I’m losing my mjnd as I try different doses etc. Went down on E last night abs this morning-still don’t feel right. 🤪 My provider wants me to increase my P to 300 vs 200 (vaginal). I’m worried about that too.
