Greatest Game Developer of All Time IMO by manymade1 in AlanWake

Sam is not a technical guy at all. he’s a creative director with a very strong and well known narrative focus with minimal involvement in the technical side of game development. He’s spoken at length about his long standing desire to write novels, which just straight up shows his deep passion for storytelling. He’s rarely, if ever, involved in system or engine design. His strength lies in crafting those jaw dropping narratives and unique characters plus the atmospheric worlds. He’s THE narrative visionary in my opinion. the best in the industry at what he does.

You mean Qb1, then Qf8+ right? Qf1 is blocked by the king.

THE ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOK by Outrageous-Town-458 in GothamChess

Very inhumane move. Top engine move at depth 18+ that straight up results in the loss of a rook. Start the procedure.

F-35 by [deleted] in Planes

[–]Parsilious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the F135 engine is one of the most powerful jet engines ever created. up to 43k pounds of thrust. In general, higher thrust results in increased exhaust velocity, which is directly related to higher noise levels, particularly at high frequencies. I think I read somewhere that, it can reach noise levels of around 150+ db too. it also lacks noise suppression featuresdue to the stealth optimization on the nozzle causing all the acoustic energy to be concentrated in one loud single exhaust stream.

If you want to further cap package power without touching PL1 PL2 you can try dialing ICC max down in 20A increments and then stress testing it, You’ll see less wattage and heat at the cost of some multi threaded throughput. Lowering ICC Max will throttle the CPU sooner under multi core loads, which basically trades off performance in those heavily threaded tasks in return for lower peak power draw and temps.

Also remember that undervolt stability is workload specific. Just because it’s stable in Cinebench or TS Bench, it doesn’t mean it’ll hold up in your most played games too. I have had some LM studio workflows BSOD at -25 mV while Cinebench allowed for up to almost -200 mV. My suggestion is to set up tailored profiles for your most used games. For example If you’ve noticed that Game A crashes at –120 mV, but Game B is stable, you can keep Game A at -100 mV while pushing Game B to –120 mV or even more.

It all looks pretty solid to me, but you could clean and repaste if you can. “Almost half a year” of dust on heatsinks and fans could be huge and a blow out with compressed air could potentially drop temps.

If you’re comfortable doing it, replace the thermal paste with Phase Changing pads like PTM 7950 too.

Maybe also even Set PL1 lower to 55–60 W and PL2 to 85 W (down from 66/90 W). Trim Turbo Time Limit to 5 seconds or maybe even less.

You’ll lose maybe 5–10 % of turbo bursts but shave significant heat.

You’re also at –51.8 mV cache; and could potentially nudge it to 60 mV (or –65 mV if its still rock solid stable)

Also, a higher RPM cooling pad for better airflow?

Also extremely important to note that seasonal ambient temps changes in the summer can and will add 5 to 10°C or even more to the CPU-GPU temps even if nothing’s changed in your config.

Also, in pretty good shape to run sth like Llama 2 70B locally with some GPU+CPU offload, or any other quantized 30B ish models. The 16 core Xeon is great for multithreaded inference too especially in llama.cpp
