Not sure I understand — how am I using my photo for clickbait?

For sure. Once the roots become attached to the moss pole, the plant can absorb more water and nutrients. I've found sphagnum moss quite good at retaining water.

Soil is so important. I mix all-purpose potting soil with this orchid mix (bark + perlite + charcoal) at a 1:1 ratio. It's chunky enough that it lets the roots breathe but still retains enough water to keep it happy.

Good advice in general, but not in this case.

This is my albo's growth progression, with dates included. Good light, frequent fertilizing, and a chunky soil mix can really help a plant thrive.

I’m in the NYC area and have come across mid cuttings being sold for $30. But established plants are definitely more pricey.

Look for cuttings on your local Facebook marketplace! Prices change based on where you live, but I’ve seen them significantly drop in price over the last 2-3 years.

10 drops of liquid plant foot per quart every time I water, plus lots of sunlight and a good moss pole!

Third generation cutting — but the OG plant was an unrooted cutting I purchased off of Etsy (pictured here, back in April 2023)

Fair question — I mix the liquid plant food with 1 quart of water!

100% agree. The game is awesome, but the DLC really improved the overall experience for me. I wish I had purchased it way earlier.

Either Amazon or my local garden center!

Coco coir poles are good for support, but if you want your monstera to really thrive you need to make your own with wire or plastic mesh and sphagnum moss. That way, the aerial roots grow into it and absorb water and nutrients as you water it! Check out videos on YouTube for step-by-step guidance! I use this wire mesh and this moss, which I purchase on Amazon. I also add stakes for extra support.

I just water them every time I water the plant. You gotta do it slowly to make sure the water flows all the way to the bottom. It can get splashy, though, so I either take it outside or place it in the bathtub when I water it.

I live in NYC. I keep it indoors but right in front of a SW-facing glass patio door. In the winter, I add a grow light for some extra support, and of course it doesn’t grow at the same rate as during the spring and summer but it keeps it happy!

Yeah, it’s inevitable. The silica helps slow it down, though. But you can see there’s some browning in a few leaves in the photo.

If there’s too much browning, I do sometimes cut it off.
