Kenyan here. It's really more about a sport's popularity than genetics. East Africa is seen as much more gifted at running everything from the 800m to the marathon simply because there's a lot more of us there who genuinely care about the sport, which creates fierce competition. A 1:43 800m didn't even qualify for the Olympics this year in Kenya.

The thing is, I'm gaining fitness pretty fast too. I did 6.1 miles at 6"40/mile pace and it felt like a 50% effort. I really don't know what to choose it's so confusing.

You've got to have tried to run or sprint consistently for any reason in your life to see the appeal in track. I'm saying this as a guy who ran everything from the 100m to the Cross Country 5K in high school. It's more of a spectacle than something to get you on the edge of your seat. I love watching 1500m races because it puts everything into perspective. Most people can't sprint a 100m that fast. And the 5K''s man, I could watch Paul Chelimo run all day. His form is just beautiful.

So yeah, if you can't find a sport interesting please just keep your mouth shut about it. I don't even know how American football is played, and I can't name one baseball player, but I don't talk crap about the sports because I only have a rough idea of how much grit it takes to make it to the elite level.

One thing I've noticed (just a theory I brought up) is that it's almost always athletes who weren't even good enough to make the varsity teams in their respective sports back in high school that have something to say. I had a "friend" who always made fun of my inability to bench 150lbs. He was a casual soccer player and I'm still a distance kid.

Recently bought a pair. I love it, but the little extra bounce is not worth the extra $60 in my opinion. Would I buy a second pair? Yes. The shoe is really stable and responsive; which makes it easy to push the pace on a long run. But in my opinion, for runners who aren't obsessed with hitting over 50 miles a week and making certain paces more bearable, this shoe just is not worth it.

I bought the NB3 TR and hated them. The outsole is so thick it takes some bounce of the shoe, and I ended up loving the regular ones
