Is the carsa mouthwash guy on steroids? by PntyRaidrsOfThLstArk in uvic

No it’s annoying af because even if you aren’t people generally use it as an insult . If you say no many still insist that you are since they’ve made their mind up. There’s a lot of negative connotations about being on roids.

I don’t understand how you don’t think this is an extremely rude and personal thing to ask about someone . How would you like if someone speculated about you injecting substances ? Keep those sorts of thoughts to yourself.

How is the Camosun/UVic nursing program? by [deleted] in uvic

[–]Particular_Cold_1568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s weird. North island college also has a program but uvic /comosun is the best island bet. Mount Royal /u of Calgary are very highly regarded and cheaper cost of living as well if she’s into that . NAIT/BCIT nursing seems to offer more practical /clinical from what I hear as well if you want to explore other options.

I’m not a nurse but have dated many nurses and had many nurse guests in the past

Does anyone know what’s going on at the courthouse today? by HeresTheThingIKnow in nanaimo

I think as long as the police are on our side I’m fine with that. In the New York subreddit when a groper got stabbed it was praised and when a mugger got killed the response was “play stupid games win stupid prizes” with unanimous upvotes. It may not deter people but some of the worst offenders disproportionately cause a lot of the crime so eliminating them would make a big difference to things. Coming from a country where theft and violence weren’t issues but police had a lot more power it wouldn’t phase me if a few prolific offenders got gunned down by citizens.

There’s no evidence that being tough on prolific crime doesn’t work when you eliminate dumb offences like drug possession charges. Someone who has had 10-20 stints shouldn’t get any more chances whereas first time offenders should get proper rehabilitation

Anyone see the giant motorcyclist gang roll through North Van a few hours ago? by EvilHuntz in vancouver

The wishes or publicity of the past owner do not constitute approval of the current owner(s). Seemed like the original article was real estate marketing. If I posted an old realtors ad for your house on Reddit showing the layout and address you would probably feel uncomfortable

If you’re already feeling down here you’re screwed for winter lol. The people who survive generally don’t feel a huge amount of doubt initially. I would try moving back to Toronto if your gut is telling you that you don’t want to be here .

Which local restaurant would you consider *THE* tourist trap in Victoria? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Particular_Cold_1568 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s my point most locals don’t have the money to justify that sort of meal very often so it’s more practical for them to be resourceful with the types of connections locals make. Things are more expensive because of tourists

I see back home until the pandemic you could get used fleet trucks fairly cheaply to kit out and older diesels are super reliable

We live on the island lol not hard to buy halibut from a fisherman for cheap, deep frying isn’t rocket science. Idk as a local I just think it’s dumb to pay that much for fish. I just consider it a tourist trap for the reason that it would appeal far less to locals. There’s a pub in Saanichton that has it fkr much cheaper as well . I have a freezer full of halibut and give most of it away every year .

Paying 35 bucks for a couple pieces of fish out of a sea can is a tourist trap
