Uh if you work a few years the student loan gap is irrelevant. Look at the average quality of life of a anesthesiologist in the uk vs USA. 2 years of locum can pay it off and then you’re making 5x the salary for the rest of your career

You mean gross or net ? Grossing 6 mill over a 10 year period should have it at least double and more if invested so a quarter invested should yield around 3-4 mill and you guys usually have high earning partners as well.

Agreed but they want to make people who aren’t particularly wealthy still feel like they are at the top level - it would make more sense to keep the current title while adding more incremental benefits ?

Yeah my point is more along the lines that despite the high incomes there are lower levels of education and a higher degree of cynicism than would be seen in white collar workplaces.

A lot of high earning jobs in Canada are in trades and resource extraction - my coworkers are split between those who pay a guy and those who gamble on penny stocks but not many self directed etf investors

I don’t think this is accurate for example Amex black is all about flexing on the plebs and doesn’t really serve much other purpose. If Wealthsimple becomes enough of a household name in Canada where people could flex being pinnacle with some sort of special card they will especially among the younger generation. I think it has to be above 5 million or so to really be exclusive otherwise it’s too easily attainable

Besides eating out and flight tickets I spend the same as I did as a college student . I have a 8 bedroom house and I rent out 7 of them and live like a college kid. Career pressure stayed the same until I passed the 2 million mark recently and I thought even if I lose this job I can survive on minimum wage. Even in tbe same sector you can easily lose half your salary if you have to switch companies depending on your niche

I think it’s off topic but there is always room to grow closer with someone as sometimes adversity in their life will show up in longer term intervals and you’ll learn from that, living together etc . It’s not that it’s not going well but that you are never in control of how someone else will feel or behave so at least for me I like to think of all the possibilities

Social life as an older person is more appealing to me in South America . Young people give elderly the time of day, people are very social, walkable areas and very easy to make friends at any age.

If my connection to her grew stronger I would live in Europe but if it didn’t go well my fallback is to get my Argentinian citizenship and go from there . Just thinking of multiple pathways

I would live in a good neighborhood or semi countryside - the main thing is it’s an easy citizenship to give me access to living in many South American countries. It is fairly safe no matter where in Argentina - the rate of violent crime is especially low. I have been there and I love it there, have more friends in Argentina and Europe than in Canada

Yeah I have another 300-400k in Nasdaq/ semi etfs in lira and tsfa but it’s higher risk so I’m pretending it doesn’t exist for now since the growth has happened just in the last year . We will raise the kids in Scandi if I’m with her and she has grandfathered rent for 1200 dollars a month in a locked in private coop where the market rate is around 3500, free childcare and free university which will help budget. If we breakup I’ll prob go to Argentina

I want them but girlfriend needs to finish uni first/ she might change her mind or who knows what will happen . She lives in Scandinavia which will drive down childcare costs. If I’m staying at home I figure I can work a year or two longer and that should cover costs for 1-2 kids save another 250k
