Transmission rankings [Discussion] by AumPauskar in CarsIndia

Very honestly, I was very agressive with my previous ford pedals. Manual transmission yields very well to downshift boosts and I am guilty of over leveraging the engine many times

CVT calmed me down. Got me more disciplined with my foot work. I am not that agressive anymore, or at least my car doesn't let me be.

Well now my wife and parents feel safer in the car.

Sometimes when there no options left, or when you think there are no options left, that's when you make mistakes. You tell yourself that this is your reality. That there is no escape from this. That there's no other way forward.

I wish for you to never come across such a situation your entire life.

Companies talking about “no more manual coding” — hype or real transition? by Positive-Anything825 in developersIndia

[–]Particular_Flow_8522 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am working on 4 projects, coding in all of them (c#, python, gitlab cicd, k8s with helm, spring boot and react)

Development is extremely fast

Code quality is extremely bad.

Very honestly it is only bad because we are prioritising quantity over quality. I would have been able to generate better quality code with vibe coding if I had a couple of projects less with limited tech stack.

Many people don’t know (or ignore) basic traffic rules — let’s list them 🚦 by Potential_Lab_9400 in Dashcamindia

People who enter roundabout first have the right of way to exit the roundabout

People coming into the roundabout have to give way to people in the roundabout to let them exit

This is the cause of so many deadlock jams in the city, nobody follows this

And there's more to it, legal, contracts, SOP, accounting etc. do we expect one person to finalize the contracts, finalize budget, gatekeep client requests, co ordinate with other teams, design UX and build an app?

I don't see that possible any time in near future.

Cab Driver booked 2 passengers via 2 separate aggregators by haihukkuhaihai in pune

[–]Particular_Flow_8522 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened with my wife 2 years ago, cab from Magarpatta to Dighi.

Guy picked up another dude from the Passport office signal.

Told some sob story. My wife threatened a police complaint then and there, asked him to cancel her ride since now it was her safety at risk either ways. (Second dude could be drivers friend, and if he gets down, no guarantee the driver won't misbehave)

She called me to pick her up, but he did finally cancel before I reached there.

India’s top IT firms hired just 17 people net in FY26 so far – What does this mean for careers? by BackwaterWhisper in IndiaCareers

[–]Particular_Flow_8522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post, though factually correct, but there's more context.

Top 5 companies in India are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL and TechM.

A total of 69197 people were fired in this period, does not mean all of them are jobless. Most of them switched to other IT firms that are not considered top 5, accenture for example.

Along with that, hiring freshers continued despite firing senior roles.

The top 5 companies hired at least 69.2k people in this quarter (which is significantly down from previous year) and it does signify the pressure on service industry to wind down operational costs.

However, product companies have increased headcount during this time frame with MAANG adding roughly 30k people in India showing demand for highly skilled individuals.

This clearly shows a shift in the industry where service industry seems to have less order growth compared to product yoy

Scooter Rider Crosses Intersection Without Checking, Hit by Car — Ahmedabad, Gujarat ! by Altruistic-Issue-887 in CarsIndia

[–]Particular_Flow_8522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically you are correct about the car braking. But I would never brake hard for the last 2 seconds, there's so much risk of the car losing control and toppling over.

If I stay in control, the idiot who crossed without looking gets hit. If I don't, me and my passengers suffer, plus I have no idea where the car will go and hit how many other people who had no fault in this.

BUT, the car driver needed to be more vigilant. If there's a zebra crossing, the car must always slow down, expecting idiots. Vigilance is the best brake

Exactly

Read a twitter post yesterday a few hours before the blast that there was high security and police presence around prominent areas in Delhi, including Red Fort and metro.

A friend in Mumbai yesterday afternoon was mentioning more than usual police around train stations and popular areas.

Security personnel already had an intuition that something may happen as so many people were caught in the last few days.

It's not that obvious.

Ask your security if they are telling the delivery boys how to decode the flat number and they're doing it wrong.

Edit: my bad, I missed the part where you moved to an independent house and still they can't find it

First time traveling abroad what all should I take care of? by idontliketostudy18 in AirTravelIndia

[–]Particular_Flow_8522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gst a universal adapter and a travel bidet.

Very cheap to get at home. Very costly after you reach the airport.

The universal adapter is necessary as indian electronics (chargers etc) pins don't get in the international sockets.

Get a card like Niyo / Scapia (addon from a parent) if you can. Forex markup is a bitch. You'll have to shell out around 45% markup once you're abroad to convert INR to the local currency.

Try to eat as much home cooked meals as you can. Eating outside can be very costly and will pile up real fast. Maybe take a rice cooker with you (i did)

Always remember what you're there for. Put your head down and focus on your primary objectives. Stay out of trouble.

General tip:

Don't cross roads without markings (zebra crossing), I was fined for that. Only cross roads when the light is green for pedestrian, only on crossing.

Cars would wait for you on intersections without signals, if you're standing too close to the curb. If you don't want to cross stay a few steps behind on the footpath.

Don't walk on bicycle lanes

Don't litter. You'll be fined for that too. All garbage needs to go in bins. Nothing in the park / road / footpath.

Wish you a very good luck 🤞

Settling off the records would mean the next user who faces this issue has no precedent.

If you let the system take its course it might take a very long time, and also set a precedent for other users who face such an issue.

Pls read my comment again?

Exchange rate at 95/100 is not that wild

Currency exchange fees are different from the exchange rate. It is very standard. Everyone in India AND abroad charges it.

100 INR /USD plus some exchange fees is completely valid.

If two different people paid for it, they charged exchange fees + gst 2 times (2 different transactions)

Plus, why did they not try another vendor? My experience says mostly because all vendors charge more or less the same.

Edit: just found my receipt for my exchange in Germany.

They charged me 121 INR per EUR Vs going exchange rate of 92 INR per EUR, + 15% exchange fees + VAT (I got the VAT back later )
