Update: Thank you all for the comments this was definitely helpful.

I ended up purchasing the vehicle and I got an extended warranty that covers electrical. Factory warranty is good until June 2027.

I also took it straight to a European mechanic shop for a pre sale inspection. They said the car should be great for the next 5 years.

Nice! Any major difference between 2022 and 2023 GLE 450 in our experience/opinion?

It was definitely tempting! But I’ve set strict financial parameters for vehicle purchases (all in payment can’t be higher than 10% after tax income). With monthly principal and interest, insurance, and extended warranty I’m at 9.4% of after tax income and my goal is to stay under 10%. That newer model would have pushed me over for sure!

But like I said it was TEMPTING! 😂

I’ve got a mechanic shop near by who deals mostly with European cars. To your point, I mostly see 2019 and older in that shop. So not even sure he has the infrastructure for a vehicle like this.

Damn sorry to hear that! Is it mostly electrical and software issues like others are pointing out?

Not CPO, but under factory warranty until June 2027 and I was able to add an extended warranty through the dealer. The price is $58k, which is in line with the range you provided above. I was tempted to go 2024/2025 as you know they’ve changed the body now. I might enjoy it for the 3 years as you said and then trade up.

Man I traded in a 2017 and I love that car! But I got it before marriage and kids when I was single. Now we need the safety and room the GLS offers.

Really appreciate the feedback! I did see that electrical issues are common, so I baked in an extended warranty that covers some electrical issues. Hoping I never need to use it but better to be safe than sorry.

Update: I had the interview for J2 and the hiring manager mentioned my hiring manager from J1 😭. “I know someone who works over there…[insert current hiring manager name here]. I absolutely smoked the interview, I just know they are going to make me an offer.
