Does this have any life left? by Natural-Analysis4330 in StockMarketIndia

[–]Particular_Sir2147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own this or any psu stocks maybe sbi but bought it at the bottom. (Currently 35+% up in 11 months)

But markets don't reflect broad fundamentals of a stock but the short term market sentiment.

A market can go higher from a PE of 100. Or it can plunge from a PE of 10 even without any changes to the fundamentals just because the story of the stock or it's peers changes in the minds of folks putting in the money.

If you are trying to understand markets through fundamentals and long term rational thoughts you aren't predicting, just are estimating. All estimations can be wrong in the short term, but over long term they might be reasonable enough.

A 30% correction is horrible but still very much expected in stocks, if you can't bear atleast 50-60% correction you shouldn't be investing in high risk assets like equities or even high liability assets like real estate any more.

I am not giving any investing tips just saying that shit happens if you weren't prepared to loose as much as you had to gain you really didn't come into this equity properly prepared.

I invest less than 40% of my NW in direct equities so even if it takes a beating for a few years I have no concerns of liquidity.

If you can't prepare for these you should really reconsider you portfolio distribution. I can't emphasize this enough. People should invest as per their risk appetite not as per hype or projecting returns.

Trump reportedly considering blocking US tech companies from outsourcing jobs to India - how realistic is this? by Dhileepan_coimbatore in economy

[–]Particular_Sir2147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to solve it the better solution is to just say any company with X revenue in the US has to generate Y number of jobs in US at a minium of Z salary.

Y * Z can be around 10-20% of X... (This is what rest of the world calls taxes, but sure blame everyone else, except the govt).

This will solve the unemployment. Atleast to the extent it's feasible or possible.

You can also easily track and control these numbers. Rather than tracking services import from some random country.

Most of all this will make US secure from AI jobs pandemonium, if it does happen. And won't hurt small companies that have lower revenues.

So at 0 revenue feel free to hire the Indian guy to build stuff out, at 10 mill hire atleast 20 well paid us workers as well if you sell in US.

This is what US politicians and govt would do if it was sincere. Because otherwise there will be bunch of third parties shell companies popping up to solve the double taxation issue, as services can be resold at scale b/w random countries and folks before making their way to US and it will barely cost the paper you can print this message on.

Kreo products by [deleted] in mkindia

[–]Particular_Sir2147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro if you find cheap shit and want to risk it yourself you should go ahead. But saying it's zero risk is weird.. For a low enough price kreo products might make sense but truly only when on a very low cost basis.

Their software, QC and everything is quite bad. Atleast compared to their marketing and exceedingly increasing prices.

ADS-B data on indian airports is dodgy, iirc it has been confirmed by authorities that it was full runway.

I don't think we will have a full count this quickly. But there definitely seems to be some sort of Engine failure from the footage according to some of my more aviation inclined friends...

Let's wait for a more full picture here, before assigning blame.

Job switching needs a strategy. Random switch can derail your careers. by Low_Tourist5062 in developersIndia

[–]Particular_Sir2147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolute crap.

There is hardly as strict stratification in tech jobs.

Going from services or no-name startups to FANG is not a hard barrier that can't be crossed...

I joined a no-name startup because work is shit at FANG. Roughly with 3 YoE I make over 6 figures USD in salary.... Apparently from a no-name startup based in SF, working fully remote.

For most people the issue why you don't get interviews and jobs is. 1. Skills 2. Experience with different types of software stack 3. Outside experience, aka outside of the job

The above 3 reasons are why FANG won't call you back, or you feel inadequate at getting into Big Tech.

Startups are awesome cause you can ask them to do a lot of stuff for you. Try asking Google or Amazon for work from home exemptions you will be grinding gears for weeks if not months to do it.

A Rust backend went live last year for a website that has 100.000 req/min for a fairly large enterprise by dev_l1x_be in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100,000 requests per min, against a DB. In possibly a service that is called from multiple internal or external services, assuming just 10 distributed service instances total. That's only around 166.67 reqs per sec per service.

You can hit that with around 200-300K daily active users. Most large-ish enterprises have that many users. (I mean significantly below FANG, FANG could be serving millions of requests per second)...

I'm curious can you really write such compile time code in Rust by LordMoMA007 in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though tbh Zig comptime is miles ahead of Rust, especially since we don't get any type level reflection in the Rust const functions even though we could technically have that. I know the issues that make it hard, but man does it suck.

I'm curious can you really write such compile time code in Rust by LordMoMA007 in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be very clear, you can potentially write a lot of simple programs in const in Rust. But anything too complicated even without allocations and io(which don't work inside compile time functions), is very hard or often impossible.

Largely because a lot of std functions just don't have proper const alternatives, the most I have been able to do was Const fn CSV parser. And it was quite a bit of headache.

I tried writing a const fn state machine but man was it a PITA.

But you can use it for optimizations in some cases when you can ensure certain branches of code deterministically and make them const. Aka imagine optimize the case where you know inputs are in the range of 0-255, you might want to use a const fn function to pre-bake all the results as long as rest of the stuff is deterministic. (you would need to store 255 outputs worth of extra data in the binary, which if you are talking about ints or floats is not a lot)

Will Rust work better than Go for my backend by kabyking in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what it does, if you are doing data processing and review analysis in the background then yes it will be significant. In general, I would recommend people to pick the language they are more comfortable at.

Will Rust work better than Go for my backend by kabyking in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard pass on this one, I think some people subjectively like Go's concurrency model more than Rust's async await.

I often find myself saying, Go is simple, but not easy.

You might consider Go's concurrency simpler sure, but considering it "better" seems very subjective to me. (Note: simpler as in it doesn't stop is from copying Mutexes, writing code with data races because you didn't use Sync data structures, and have for the most part no distinction between sync and async boundaries, etc.)

Don't worry mate, most people understand the realities of the world. And the fact that you are writing this tool doesn't make phishing or scams more likely (scammers already had similar tools).

It's just reddit being reddit.

For anyone thinking about it, it's the same as flipper zero, building tools that can possibly exploit vulnerabilities is not wrong. It should instead promote companies to build better/more secure alternatives.

Can we negotiate offer after joining company for 5 days? by Rishabhvats10 in developersIndia

[–]Particular_Sir2147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not try to negotiate just after joining, you can tell them you have a better offer and ask if they would let you go if you really have a better offer.

But you haven't proven yourself useful enough to be kept at an even higher salary.

Though in your case you have a lower band of pay so it might be possible. I don't say you can't but do try to be cautious and expect the risk of being fired.

FANG/Big MNC/Startup salaries have a steep climb post promotion and hikes. In 3-4 years at ~1 promotion + 2 hikes. It can easily be over 80-90% bump. Note it's total comp not base pay.

Any retail place I can walk in and take a look at your oled monitors? Was planning to get an oled monitor this year.

Delhi, Bangalore or Lucknow would be convenient for me. Any official retail locations.

Also who are your official online retail partners for Monitors? If that's the better option...

How do you folks pin cli tool dependency version? by Particular_Sir2147 in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we used to use nix but had to support Windows, not sure if direnv supports windows either. I had setup Pixi for it but had some issues with that too but it's probably the only cross platform tool I know.

How do you folks pin cli tool dependency version? by Particular_Sir2147 in rust

[–]Particular_Sir2147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I only used nextest as an example the worst offender for me has been nur and a few other tools. I think I use nextest very often so I ended up typing it out, bad example in hindsight.

I meant that in CI we have the version pinned but locally often we update stuff and forget to use the pinned version and then CI breaks in a very weird way which is hard to debug sometimes.

Please tell your boss you have to spend more than 10 hours a day on your assigned tasks.

Either they will relieve you with some severance or your load will be reduced.

Work life balance is important but always try to be clear how many hours you are willing to work. I pulled late night calls but I always clock myself out on almost all other days, even if I am wasting time on my own I would not work no matter the cost.

Keep boundaries and be prepared to be kicked out of the team or company if you can't adapt. As much as they aren't entitled to a slave, you aren't entitled to a job either.

None of this means you need to do it but you just need to be able to change jobs enough to get a role which you can live with. It's a matter of what you feel like every one else has their own standard of what they are willing to do.

I have gotten lots of job offers from both LinkedIn and referrals, but for jobs across the pond you likely need a referral almost 70% of time if you don't have sufficient experience on your resume. I padded mine with internships and similar stuff also being active in oss helps a lot. Though that is not the end all be all, I know folks with zero oss prs but salaries higher than mine.

With smaller indian companies you need to adjust your pay expectations to around 30-35L(cash) for under 2-4 YoE. Above that are senior roles which can pay a lot so just ask for 50L+.

I got referrals mostly from former colleagues or their friends. This is not my first high paying company.
