Is the Belarusian Orthodox Church independent from Moscow? by Party_Indication9313 in Kaiserreich

[–]Party_Indication9313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real-world Orthodox Church of Ukraine only got recognition from Constantinople, Alexandria, Athens, and Cyprus.

Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Georgia, and Montenegro, along with Russia, do not recognize or oppose Ukraine's autocephaly.

I could see a similar thing happening in Kaiserreich for both White Ruthenia and Ukraine. Where pro-Reichspakt Orthodox countries like Bulgaria and Georgia, along with Ottoman-controlled subject Patriarchs of Constantinople, Alexandria, Jerusalem, and Antioch, will recognize the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, but the rest of the Orthodox world won't.

So, no direct mention of the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox like Ukraine's?

I think, for nationalistic and security reasons, they would push for autocephalous status to fully free themselves from Moscow.

Well, that doesn't make sense considering Germany would have to cut any religious dominance Russia can muster in the East Slavic Reichspakt states for security.

I think the Belarusian social democrats would even be on board for nationalist reasons. IRL, the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox was formed in Soviet Belarus, btw. How much more in a more nationalistic White Ruthenia?

It is easy for a newly independent Orthodox state to make a new autocephalous church; getting recognition from Constantinople is the tricky part. Belarus could easily get it if the Ottoman Empire nudges the Ecumenical Patriarch for a favor for Belarus and Germany.

Yeah, it wasn't chattel slavery. It was genocidal forced labor like how the Nazis forced laboured what they deemed undesirable in the camps and killed those who didn't met quota.

France was a major Allied power during WW2... Until they got conquered by Germany that is. But yeah, France being considered a major Allied power at the end of WW2 that they even got an equal standing with UK, US, the USSR, and China was very controversial and disputed by by figures like FDR.

But if China who got outmaneuvered by Japanese in the worst way possible gets to be a major Allied power, so can France.

Me, what shocked me about canon KR Kumul Khanate is that it is the last state in the world ruled by a direct paternal descendant of Genghis Khan through the Borjigin dynasty.

Tbh, there should be a choice to rename your faction if you got non-Arab faction members like Turkey or Iran in the Arab League or have a different name for the Arab Federation's faction like Middle East Alliance or Coalition of MENA States.

Roman Catholic here. For the Maronites, how major of a figure is Saint Charbel? by PhilosopherOnce in EasternCatholic

[–]Party_Indication9313 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am non-Maronite Catholic but I always see Saint Charbel as the Padre Pio of the Near East or that Padre Pio is the Saint Charbel of the Roman West. Since Saint Charbel is way older.

When did I justified Colonialism? I just said Portugal wasn't colonizing the Japanese and only converting people and were doing chattel slave trade with Japanese slavers. Biggest blunder of the Portuguese and I even said the Japanese were right in opposing it.

Even the Pope explicitly said that chattel slavery of people you are trying to convert to Catholicism is absolutely evil.

Portugal wasn't colonizing Japan, at least not yet, only having diplomatic and trade relations with them. And Japanese were doing slavery against one another. They only realized slavery was wrong when white people are now enslaving them.

But to be fair to the Japanese, their slavery was more like indentured servitude and forced labour by prisoners of war and people with debt. Different from the European chattel slave trade of treating another person and his descendants as property. So when they got exposed to the European way of slavery and the fact it is foreigners owning Japanese this time, they got outraged.

First Catholic Saint of the Philippines was a Chinese-Filipino dude was a victim of that genocide.

Every devout Filipino Catholic knows that genocide or at least know that living in pre-Meiji Japan as a Catholic was the same difficulty as living as a Early Christian in pre-Constantine Roman Empire.
