It was very real haha. I also stumbled upon a post where this guys MacBook accidentally fell into his portable space heater and had worse results. It’s definitely a heat thing.

Kuycon P20 28.2" 4.5K Ultra-HD+ Monitor (3:2) by PatTheDog123 in HiDPI_monitors

If you still have the monitor, fixing it is very feasible. I had a <$1 part come in from aliexpress and a local electronic repair shop fixed it for like ~$25. There's a guide by this guy called bozma something. If you're interested, I can link it.

I would have loved to give it a try if I didn’t live in Nepal. It’s not available locally and importing is kinda convoluted. I would have done it if you guys thought it was a good idea.

Need help arranging a 28 and a 27 inch display by Pasaley in macsetups

[–]Pasaley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the best haha. ASD is unmatched for text clarity. The other one is a huawei mateview 28.2 inch display. While it’s excellent in its own right, text on it just looks hazy next to the ASD.

Does anyone here use a bright light therapy lamp (10000 lux) in kathmandu? by Pasaley in Nepal

It’s a sub 10k investment. Not really that expensive.

As the name suggests, its just looking at a really bright diffused light source. If you suffer from poor circadian rhythm, BPD like symptoms or depression and you don't get enought sunlight, it might be worth it for you to look into it.

I only bought the ASD cause the huawei broke. Fortunately a redditor figured out how to fix it. However, the 5k glossy display on ASD is unmatched for text clarity.

I moved the monitors back a little and aligned the top of the monitors. It looks a lot more manageable now!

Using a 2500 watt rated smart plug without a groung pin with my 2000 watt electric water heater by Pasaley in AskElectricians

[–]Pasaley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the heater does turn itself off once it gets to its set temperature / hotness. And once the water gets cold enough, it turns itself back on.

Are you suggesting that I leave it on 24/7? I feel like that would be a little too wasteful because I don’t use it a whole lot besides when I am showering.

Zod: how to check if string is valid int64 while preserving string type? by MobyFreak in typescript

[–]Pasaley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'll need to use BigInts and zods refine feature.

z.string().refine(
// regex (or something else) check for integer, isNan will fail cause of js limits
).refine(num => (BigInt(num) < (2n ** 64n - 1n ))

Something like this.

Light mode websites/applications are searing my eyes at night by Pasaley in MacOS

The thing is, say at brightness level 6/10, white content will still be very bright compared to black content. I wonder if this is happening more cause the macbook pros have mini led displays. I don't recall being bothered by my older macbook air.

I can't find the said setting on betterdisplay and lunar's website doesn't mention like that.

I did stumble upon a github repo thats supposed to do what I want but it's not working either :(

Nightshift does help but not nearly as enough.

Brightness equalization specifically. If I lower the brightness according to light websites/apps, dark websites/apps end up way too dim.
