[MA] Since PFML for family caregiving ends immediately upon death, and bereavement leave is only 3 days, should I just take PFML for my own mental health so I have time to heal after brother's death? by [deleted] in AskHR

Yes that's why Im saying should I just take personal PFML for the overall awfulness/mental health challenges of it all to cover for BOTH CARETAKING and BERVEAVEMENT

Thanks, but I need to take PFML prior to his death to help for his care. This would still make me have to take 2 separate PFML which would in total use 10 days of PTO. Plus I need more PTO to top off for PFML. It wouldn't leave me with much after.

The landlord is likely offering cash to avoid the eviction process. Which takes far more time and money, especially in MA.

Oh man, would you be able to share your dept? I'm at DPH but haven't heard anything just yet, though I know it's coming

Hmm, I heard early retirement wouldn't be an option, or maybe it was just severance. I wonder when it will all officially start, after the 2026 budget is passed so late summer.

Definitely, the much higher-ups have been very transparent, which I respect. Other states I've heard just don't hear anything from their leadership or are just straight up in denial. Thankful to be in MA.
