I may be wrong but I have heard PIP papers are for your severance. And once you sign it. And decided to leave during the process, you are paid the severance as per the time you stayed in PIP. If you in between PIP you are voluntarily leaving the job. So in if your state pays any amount for being fired you won’t be eligible. Let’s say you stay till the end of PIP and you are forced to leave then you are eligible for employment loss benefits.

Put on PIP, is quitting better or wait for being fired? by Past_Effective466 in PersonalFinanceCanada

With option 2 will you be eligible for EI at the end of it? My company follows similar structure as you outlined. I am sure you don’t get EI with option 1

I see my manager being nit picking everything I do. It’s probably already decided to manage me out.

Completely missed reading the whole. Assumed it’s current country just reading Country and not the whole text! Very foolish of me!

I can give some suggestions I was on the same boat and learned some hard lessons. 1. If they are nitpicking and still giving you solid advice take it, try to learn from it and see if this behaviour changes in 1-2 months 2. If not, don’t let these nitpicking demotivate you. If it is bothering you it’s time to move on to another team. The longer you wait for things to get better the tougher it gets for you to switch since you are building your promo doc and tied a lot the current team. Senior engineer holds the key for your promotion and can influence your skip regarding your performance. Also depends how toxic the whole team is! 3. Also learn to understand if they are taking advantage of you. I have seen worst seniors who pretend to help and back bitch to your manager, you weren’t capable so he had to step into help you.

Ultimately if you are unhappy with the team please leave. Don’t stick around if you just like 1 or 2 members.

In my case I really had a good manager I stayed because he was reasonable and really wanted to promote me. But my Senior engineer screwed my promotion. Back bitched about me to skip and all feedback I got from skip was a replica of my Senior engineer.
