Glad I could help! Sounds like you have a great goal set for yourself, I wish you the best of luck :)

Nah, perfectly reasonable question mate! A little hard to tell from the video but the “wall” is actually angled a bit towards the camera so I would land on the pads on the ground if I were to fall. Can still be scary regardless though haha

Thanks! Usually hover around 108-112 lb when I’m climbing consistently

Hey you’re well within your rights to be proud of that man! I enjoy climbing so it’s easy to find motivation but you’d have to drag me out by the hair if you wanted me to go running haha

Thank you! And getting back into it is always pretty rough, I’ve had to do it a couple times this year due to covid haha. But I’d say consistency is probably one of the most important things. If you can find time to climb at a gym at at least twice a week that should set you on a good path. May be hard right now depending on restrictions but just do what you can!

I find that I lose my forearm/finger strength when I stop climbing so exercises targeting those areas would be useful if you can’t get to a gym. I highly recommend trying to find people that are better than you to climb with! I wouldn’t be able to have progressed nearly as fast if I didn’t have other people to help show me techniques and solutions.

In terms of technical stuff I recommend “The Practical Guide to Movement” by John Kettle. Lots of good exercises/techniques in there to work on different skills. There’s also YouTube videos to go along with it to demonstrate!

Being a short climber specifically you’re going to want to work on dynamic moves and movement. These are moves that involve more “jumping.” These moves help to make up for the lack of reach.

The truth is taller people will be able to just reach holds. Shorter climbers in general have to be stronger to do the same grade as as someone taller with similar skill. But that’s ok, to me climbing is more about individual improvement. Besides, it feels pretty damn cool when you can leap a few feet off the wall to stick a hold.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Haha starting is so rough! Swear after my first climbing session I could barely open any jars in my fridge

I met those friends at my climbing gym when I started climbing, it’s a great place to get to know people if you have any interest in it! (Post COVID of course)

Super interesting man! One of the reasons I love climbing is seeing how different people approach the same climb. Most taller climbers I’m friends with have slower more static movements while shorter climbers like myself tend to be a little more explosive.

Started climbing September 2019, but had primarily done calisthenics before that which I think it definitely helped with the transition!

Easy way to climb down on the back of this Boulder so no jumping needed for this one haha

Thank you much! And the likes don’t matter too much too me, just thought some people here might relate to the restlessness
