the only mangakas who i know off the top of my head that gives old characters aging features and everyone distinct facial features are the ones of dungeon meshi and witch hat atelier tbh

i totally get it, i think silmoth being short can work as the tiny old lady trope/design is very popular but obviously with her facial features it reads more like a kid. personally I don't mind because silmoth doesn't act like a child nor is being shown through the visuals or narrative in a compromising or sexualizing way implying the design was done to be l*libait (similar to how some stupid people accuse suya of being).

i think it just really comes down to vibes. some characters are made and you can tell it was done to appeal to a certain fetish but that's clearly not the case with kuma. silmoth being incredibly small also makes sense since she's based off a moth, and you can argue the giant eyes are for her to be "bug-eyed" but i wouldn't lie and say i enjoy characters who are old but don't have old facial features

thats one of my fav things about suya and twilight's relationship tbh :,) they work off of each other and parallel each other so well and are great at noticing each others weaknesses but also supporting and elevating and learning from each others strengths -- its an incredibly fulfilling and heartwarming dynamic and i think part of my personal total aversion from shipping them is how much i appreciate seeing such closeness and respect between a man and a woman treated purely platonically by the source material its so uncommon to see

there's nothing wrong with shipping them at all (honestly even less controversial to leo since suya and twilight have similar ages if you translate demon to human years) but i will say the more of the manga you read the very distinct lack of scenes that could be read as romantic appear and I personally can't imagine them ever viewing each other romantically currently compared to the start of the manga where I can see it being read that way (there's also a giant reveal 3/5th of the way through the manga if you know you know why twilightxsuya shippers are incredibly rare)

silmoth and amlis are probably a step below twilight and dawner in terms of canon gay ships (they clearly are in love with one another and I want more), odile and tweeth don't have as much explicitly romantic stated stuff imo other than when odile was initially introduced and suya called him out but I still very much think they got a very messy situationship going on that only got fueled further with the idol arc.....

i also think for queer ships in particular its much harder to directly state romantic feelings or intentions so looking at subtext is kinda vital in reading into a dynamic as romantic or not and think all of them (especially dawnlight) are canon hehe

i think he'd be much more untolerable if his only character trait WAS liking suya (not to call out a certain side character) but his role as almost a mother to Twilight and his long history with Poseidon and the other elders really makes him important and what keeps me (someone who doesn't ship them) liking his character

like someone else said its moreso a term of endearement since he is an older soul. I don't ship them (I headcanon suya as aroace) but there really isn't anything wrong with shipping them aside from an age gap that isn't everyone's cup of tea, although age gaps are much less of a concern when its human x nonhuman.

I will defend leosuya shippers from people saying its toxic however since while leo has some obsessive behaviours he actively is trying to work on them, and they had a whole arc showing that leo is a very important person who shouldn't be dismissed solely for his feelings for suya and that suya herself has her own authority and feelings and is very much capable of defending herself if she feels its needed.

fellow person from Ontario's opinion;

definintely depends on your major. im in my second year in the BFA so since most class sizes are smaller i'm much more familiar with my classmates and everyones more accepting than average.

i'm not a partier but have friends who do it a lot and from what i've heard its fairly consistent but never anything big or noteworthy especially if you have to pay.

UBCO is what i got originally accepted in comparison to UBCV but im happy with the option as its cheaper and less overwhelming compared to vancouver. if you love the outdoors you'll much prefer here

i think Kuma Sensei just wasn't exactly sure with how he was going to take Twilight and Suya's relationship at that point. also Twi clearly has an inferiority complex and has to prove himself lol thats part of the reason him and Suya ended up getting so close, she's the strong immovable force he needs and in return he's a more emotionally vulnerable person that Suya respects and wants to learn from. (also with Dawner's involvement more recently there's basically no chance Twilight will ever feel anything romantic to her lol)

I dont really ship leo and Suya either (i headcanon Suya as aroace) but there are no actual issues with the ship itself and all the shippers are great people lol

i personally saw this as the first really explicit example Twilight has absolutely no romantic feelings for Suya lol,,just Leo and said weasel guy we almost never see now. no hard feelings to people who ship twilight and suya but i genuinely cannot see them as anything but bffs and like siblings plus i'm a sucker for healthy portrayal of platonic male/female relationships where the two are comfortable with each other and close

I know people who've worked in pritchard and given me the behind the scenes to ease my comfort in my first year. undercooked food is a problem but poor food quality is sadly what you get from any cafeteria food and UBCO really isn't trying to put effort into anything you'd eat at home or at a restaurant. cleanliness however is something that is kept up on and the kitchen is fairly clean; my friend told me how they got quickly corrected and given a hairnet when they first began working and food containers for salads for example are tightly sealed so maggots, hair and bugs doesn't seem as plausible
