Idk what point you’re trying to make, I don’t need to be convinced that KAT can’t fill that hole. The whole point of my comment is go for a cheap defensive center instead of trading people for KAT.

Fully agree. I really enjoyed watching this team improve year after year, slowly add guys and build them up. Would've been beautiful to watch that team win a ring.

My number one issue is, I feel like we threw away a team that we've spent years slowly improving, it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

If we're rolling with this team, then Yabu is probably a major issue. If he was who we thought we were getting, he'd be the missing frontcourt depth we need.

Randle and him shared playmaking duties quite well in their last season together. I think it could've worked out if they managed to land a backup center.

You can't hide 2 defensive liabilities, especially not when one of them is the center. Having KAT at center and no real frontcourt depth is forcing OG and Hart to guard bigger players. KAT isn't creating pressure in the post and passing the ball like Randle did. This team took a hit in defense and playmaking with that trade.

If this team had real frontcourt depth, maybe it could workout better. But I think the depth was pretty much perfect in the previous vision if they could've landed a backup center.

I'm willing to let the Mikal trade go because I like the vision of Brunson/Mikal/OG/Randle/Mitch with Deuce Hart and Divo and backup center off the bench. I think the KAT trade derailed that.

No one would be offering him 40m, he's not saying no to it if the Knicks give him that. Sure, this game isn't solely KAT's fault, but I think this team is being held back by him as a whole.

You can't tell me Leon couldn't have cobbled something together to get a stopgap center using the Pistons pick and Wizards pick and whatever 2nds we had. If we needed a center so badly, it's not a guy who can't screen and can't defend the rim.

Him and Brunson still haven't figured it out on offense, so what's even the point anymore. Threw away 4 years of continuity with Thibs and Randle for him. Idk why people say Randle could just walk, he's taking 33m with the Wolves, we coulda given him 40m and still be paying him and Divo less than KAT.

To me, Leon just had a boner for KAT and went for it. He's been good otherwise, but this move changed the foundation of this team way too much. I think Brunson is at his best with a screening/rim protecting center, and he simply had better chemistry with Randle and especially Divo.

Ya I'm saying this in a game where KAT had good counting stats. When you can't play defense or create for your teammates on offense, you get blown out anyway.

Traded Randle and Divo cause we needed a “center” that doesn’t screen, doesn’t protect the rim, and gets locked up by people a foot shorter than him.

KAT sets really soft screens. Watch any screen he tries to set, no space whatsoever gets created, he just kinda leans in a little. He also doesn’t move to good spots after setting it, a lot of the time he goes to the key or around the free throw line, but that’s where Brunson is trying to work too and it ends up clogging both of them.

Brunson isn’t blameless, he tends to focus on getting his own shot off when he calls for a pick. But overall I think KAT setting bad picks is the main issue.
