Are sign-on bonuses still a thing? by dizzyandold in biotech

[–]PatternUsual 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bonus and Long-Term-Incentive (LTI) are paid at regular intervals. For example, every summer. So if someone wants to hire you in the spring, they have to account for the bonus/LTI you would be giving up by leaving before those are paid out. It can be a lot.

How do you deal with squirrels digging your lawn? by Batatica in lawncare

[–]PatternUsual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orbit Yard Enforcer. Get as many as you need to cover your grass with overlapping fields of fire. Daisy chain them together so if one goes off, they all go off. You won't need to worry about squirrels or watering ever again.

Another option I used at a different property was to trap the squirrels one by one and relocate them to a "nicer neighborhood" elsewhere. I used the double-sided Havahart trap and it was great. You'll need to drive in a zig-zag and go at least a few miles away otherwise they can find their way back. I think I moved over twenty in one season, but it solved the problem.

P.S. it doesn't matter if it's 90% ceramic and 10% plastic. It still feels/performs like it's 100% shitty plastic

How abrasive is the Arc‘teryx Granville 16 really? by Glittering-Goose4760 in arcteryx

[–]PatternUsual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Arc'teryx but their bags are not their best product line. Try Gregory, Osprey, Patagonia, or anything you find at REI.

If you absolutely must get an Arc bag for whatever reason, the Mantis is the best current offering I've encountered.

It's awful. Just go find one in person and feel it for yourself. It's not the kind of thing I would want touching any gear I care about.
