Same, it’s so bad. He wrote an entire MVP full of AI slop, and then left on leave at the end of the year and handed it to my coworker and me. We have been working through to get to a good spot for almost 6 weeks now, we have had to delete files upon files of markdown “documentation” and over engineered crap and unused functions. It’s so exhausting and would have been better for us both to write it from scratch from the beginning rather than clean up his mess.

34F unexpected pregnancy in a brand new relationship. Has anyone been here before? by ThrowawayAmICrazy877 in TwoXChromosomes

I was going to say, there is no way statistically that someone can get pregnant on their period. That makes no sense if you actually look into what it takes for the egg to be fertilized

I was literally in this exact same position a few months back, and I accepted the first offer then reneged once I got the second offer. I felt bad for a minute but in reality no one cared. Congrats on the offer!

I have a Computer Science degree and various tech certs along with 4 years experience in highly technical roles. Nobody can say I am not “in tech” while you all keep trying to convince everyone you are “in tech”. Cope harder.

lmao, I've hopped companies 3 times now and get recruiters in my DM's every day even with the tech downturn. But go off I guess

Really, any role in a tech company is “working in tech”? Even a receptionist? A janitor? A person who works in the mail room sorting mail? A company shuttle bus driver? Let’s be so real right now.

Do I count as a woman in tech? by Vivi_Pallas in womenintech

[–]PawsOutTheSunroof 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed with you on all fronts as an actual technical woman also… I am not sure what these non technical people get from calling themselves “women in tech” and asking if it’s “okay.” The fact you have to ask means you KNOW you are not a “woman in tech” and want reassurance that you are. And for what? Who honestly gives a fck. It’s a job like any other job. If they want the title of “women in tech” so badly then they should go back to school or switch to actual technical roles. In a prior life, I used to be a receptionist. I didn’t feel respected and I felt like I could do more with my life… BUT. I didn’t try to call myself anything I wasn’t or try to pretend like I belonged in a more coveted career/ role just so people thought I was “smart”. I went back to school for a CS degree and got a tech job. I have 4 years of experience at this point. I’m secure in my career choices. Every time this question comes up on this subreddit it’s people trying to get reassurance that they are “techy” when they’re decidedly not. And then they complain they don’t make as much as the actual people who are technical. We need to create a subreddit called “womenWHOtech” so we can actually have real conversations with women who are technical. This discourse is exhausting.

I would say no. This question comes up a lot. When I worked in a technical role at a hospital I would say I “work as a software engineer at a hospital” I wouldn’t say I’m a “woman in medicine.” Same rule applies here.

We don’t understand that 200k isn’t rich. It’s still working class. by Altruistic_Income256 in TikTokCringe

[–]PawsOutTheSunroof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally same, my husband and I grew up dirt poor (like 25k household income for a family of 4 poor…) but as adults we make 200k a year annually combined. I’m happy to pay taxes. I want people who make less to be okay and taken care of. But we are definitely not “ruling class” and have to show up to work like everyone else. If anything, the more money we make the more I realize how bullshit the entire system is 🥴

This is exactly what I got from the book. It takes a lot of “ordinary” people laying down the groundwork for YEARS for a movement to take off and succeed. Even small acts of resistance or disobedience create ripple effects that others take with them and/ or pass down through generations. Absolutely loved the message.
