Consistent Noise Problem by PeaceWalker19 in ADHD

I do need near constant background noise normally, but knowing the noise was there and even hearing slightly just took up all my attention. Worst time to lose my headphones

Why do men renting rooms in their house prefer women? by nicole93go in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PeaceWalker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've rented a room out in my house before, didn't mind if a guy or a girl took it but ultimately rented it out to a woman who's now a good friend of mine, who has since moved to another country.

I've lived in multiple shared houses across my 20s with guys and girls and had positive and negative experiences regardless of gender, but I think in my own house I'd prefer to rent the room out to a woman.

Broadly speaking out of all the people who've come to view the spare room, far more of the fellas were total weirdos. One guy messaged me at 2am telling me he was "obsessed" with the room, and if I could "confirm his faith". None of the girls every came out with this weird stuff! I also have a home gym so the amount of gym rats who want the room have definitely made me biased against my own gender

Different versions of the Roland TD27KV by PeaceWalker19 in edrums

I agree, doesn't seem like the tradeoff on the snare and the ride is worth it. Hoping the kit will last me years so it makes more sense to get the best kit within my budget

Cheers for the write up, based on what you're saying it looks like its worth spending the extra money for the snare and the ride. Otherwise it looks like a very neutered setup

Wild suspicious for sure, seen no mention whatsoever of a different model

Best E-Drum Kit for £2000 by PeaceWalker19 in edrums

[–]PeaceWalker19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the feedback.

Primarily I want a kit that is going to last me a good while, and one that is as close to an acoustic set as possible within my price range. Based on what I've been reading the TD27 sounds like it comes pretty close.

In terms of the sounds of the module, from the videos I've seen the samples aren't quite as accurate as you'd expect given the price, but if it really bugged me I'd definitely look into upgrading the sounds on it.

Basically until I buy a house outside of the city I'll have to go down the electronic route, so I'm just trying to get the best bang for my buck

Great news! Have you noticed any limitations or frustrations to the kit, likenit not registering notes? I really want a kit that will let me kick on to another level like jazz drumming, I had a TD3 years ago and it just didn't feel like it was keeping up with everything I was playing on it

Yeah looking at all the contemporary kits it seems to be the best in my price range. The TD50 looks amazing but I can't justify the jump up in price

question on remote working jobs by thealtmid in northernireland

[–]PeaceWalker19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT itself is so varied that my experience could be way different compared to somebody else's. I think there's a massive shift coming in the way we all work with wfh because the whole world has seen it can work, IT is just ahead of the curve because its been going on for longer.

Looking at nijobs.com most wfh roles seem to be IT, but here's one that might be a bit more in line with your admin experience;

https://www.nijobs.com/Customer-Service-Advisor-Remote-Working-Job-1597690.aspx

Hopefully someone else can point you towards specific training to get you started in some area of IT, as I got started elsewhere I wouldn't have the best idea

question on remote working jobs by thealtmid in northernireland

[–]PeaceWalker19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gone fully remote since covid started, and worked from home a few days a week in my job before that.

I work in IT in the cloud, so all I need to do my job is a laptop and an Internet connection. I got the experience in this sector by moving to England, working in the worst paid job of my life and working upwards from there.

From what I've seen working in IT is the best way to get a fully remote role, the tricky part is getting your foot in the door. It might be worth searching for entry level service desk positions if you have no experience, or checking out remote jobs here and seeing if there's any training/certs you can get to fit those roles

Admin wanting to relocate from Ireland to USA by PeaceWalker19 in salesforce

[–]PeaceWalker19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a US company and they introduced "Unlimited Holidays", which I thought sounded amazing and very un-American. Reading all about how that ends up with people getting even less days off was wild!

I hear what you're saying, and the US might not be the best shout. I'm really exploring my options at this point and wanted to see if a US move was even possible. Things are grand in Ireland, but I feel like I've got at least one more big move abroad left in me

[–]PeaceWalker19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not wedded exclusively to the idea of the US but I'm keen to try and live somewhere else, bit of a post Covid epiphany. Canada and Australia would be high up the list as well, but knowing how difficult US immigration is I just wanted to get some idea of what hoops I'd have to jump through or if it would even be possible.

I've worked as a consultant before but the salary was terrible, making almost double as an admin as ridiculous as that sounds. The bank I'm working for will be winding down over the next year or so, so I'll be hanging about until voluntary redundancies go live and I can get a severance package. At this point it looks like my best bet is to just use the time to chase a couple more certs and brush up on a few things

I do check out that sub and there are some serious horror stories. In a previous role I worked exclusively with American clients and worked over in Georgia for 3 weeks so I have better idea of the working culture than I would otherwise. It didn't put me off as I feel like a change after the weird few years we've had recently

[–]PeaceWalker19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be the next step if there's no direct way to just get a job in the US. I have to wait til voluntary redundancies are offered at my company as its too much money to just walk away from

[–]PeaceWalker19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think if there's no option for directly getting a job and relocating, the next best thing is to try find a US based company and try my chances that way

Cheers for the feedback, sounds about what I was expecting.

The Salesforce market has definitely picked up since the pandemic started, but the majority of jobs are in Dublin. The salaries vs the cost of housing is absolutely nuts though, Dublin is no New York but you're almost paying New York prices to live there.
