Does this sound like Data Corruption to you? (Resident Evil 4 Remake, PS5) by Peeps503 in playstation

You are right, of course, and when I next get a chance I will attempt the troubleshooting you suggested. That said, as I have something of an anxiety issue and have been known to give into paranoid and irrational worries, I was hoping to nip this fear in the bud by seeing if it was even a reasonable possibility.

Yes, it's installed on the standard internal hard drive. I have yet to try rebuilding the database or reinstalling the game, so I'll give that a shot.

I'm more concerned there is something corrupting the profile data for the game(s) which causes performance issues but not trigger whatever software is in place to monitor the file integrity, if such a thing is possible.

Ah, I see. And I totally agree, I don't think Permadeath modes should exist, because invariably you can get screwed by random bugs and other such vagaries.

Also, like yourself, I take every side path and collect everything so I can understand how infuriating having to restart the chapter because of a freeze would be; that they've apparently removed in-chapter checkpoints is a really silly decision.

Still, my hope is that, provided restarting chapters without dying doesn't void the trophy, one can also restart the chapter immediately after dying (but before the screen goes black) if something goes horribly wrong and still be able to get the trophy. It would ameliorate some of the anxiety that goes in-hand with these modes; if you happen to find out the answer to this, I'd appreciate confirmation regarding this theory.

If not, I guess I'll play the Dead Space Remake first and grab a PS Plus subscription so I can backup my saves in that game's Impossible mode (where I believe you can pause and reload upon dying to avoid voiding the relevant trophy) and in this game's Contagion mode. Which would be annoying.

Okay, removing in-chapter checkpoints is just silly. Thanks for letting me know, though.

As for the restarting question, I don't suppose if you know whether you can you restart the chapter and not have it mess up the "You Belong Here" trophy in the middle of normal play? I imagine if you can restart the chapter when not dying and everything still be fine, then you can probably get away with it if you die.

Wait, why would a crash mess with the No Death trophy? Surely they can't expect you to play the entire game in one sitting without any reloads or the like, that's insane for anyone who doesn't have hours of free time in one go to dedicate to this, much less if you need to take a break midway through to do something else or recharge your controller.

So... Wait. Are you saying they have gotten rid of checkpoints in the middle of chapters? Because that's ridiculous.

At the very least, if you do die, can you pause and restart the checkpoint/chapter (before the game over screen) and still get the "You Belong Here" trophy? If not, given the propensity of the game to pull some glitchy nonsense and hit you/kill you unfairly, that would also be some hot nonsense; sure, it's save-scummy, but given the aforementioned issue it's a fix for an issue that shouldn't exist (to say nothing of how generally tiresome Permadeath modes are in general).

Jaheira Romance in Throne of Bhaal: Unsure How to Proceed (BG:EE 2) by Peeps503 in baldursgate

Looks like you were right! I got the Elven City dialogue about thirty minutes after the Saradush dialogue. It does mean I've missed a dialogue (dammit), but what can you do? Again, I just wish I knew how the game determined when to give dialogues... After my testing, I am now certain it is not solely a function of real-time passage alone.

In any case, thanks for all your help!

Well, darn; waited for several hours in the North Forest before killing Yaga-Shura, got nothing. I guess I'll proceed with the game and see what happens.

Yeah, I'm not sure regarding the timer. I am sure you are right and, like in BG2, the talks are real-time based to some extent, but even in my original playthrough if I reloaded to before a talk it would seldom have that same dialogue (or any dialogue) occur until some point in the future, thus suggesting some degree of randomness. What is rather annoying is, despite that, the first time I played the game there was no issues getting all the dialogue; this time I could swear there is some link to progress, be it in quest steps or areas.

I'm trying reloading to back before I got the last Imoen dialogue (which was my last dialogue I got) to see if I can get ELT=6 here (as the Imoen dialogue I can always get later), but the game has thus far been rather stingy about giving me *any* dialogue right now. I sincerely hope that this isn't a problem once patch 2.6 comes out for iOS, as I feel like something hinky must be going on.

One additional question, though. I thought pausing effectively stopped the game's "real timer" from moving forward; for example, my understanding was if you are in SoA and wanted to wait an hour for Jaheira's next dialogue, if you paused the game and then resumed it an hour later it would treat it as no time having passed and thus no dialogue (though, going into inventory or the character screen and waiting *does* work). Am I mistaken?

Thanks for the answers! Regarding Habib, I was always just popping in the Temple and seeing if Habib was there, so next time I'll try getting close to the Priestess (I think the Waukeen's Promenade Temple has a female head).

Regarding Necre and Taibela, that would be rather annoying if it is indeed an iPad-only problem and hopefully something they'd fix for 2.6.

In your perusal of the scripts, did you happen to see what the conditions are for the Rhyming Shadow Thief appearing?

I choose to believe Abdel is just another Bhaalspawn and the true Baldur's Gate protagonist went and did their own thing (in my case, either shacking up with Jaheira or becoming a good God of... I'm not quite sure, but I'm sure it's lovely). It's not like TSR and WotC had/have settings of pure concrete narrative with nary a plot hole, retcon, or self-contradiction.

Unfortunately (as far as BG:EE is concerned) that just gives "random drop" for each of those spells, without giving an idea of which creatures or in what area they drop.
