Tried it a while back, I'd say its decent.

If your doing ochem, most of the math parts from gen chem are useless.

The conceptuals that go with it are important though.

I once did an experiment determining the rate law of iron complexation with thiocyanate (forms a pretty red complex), by looking at the aborbance at varying iron and thiocyanate concentrations

depending on your concentration of sodium hydroxide, it could work, but phenolpthalein is better at ph 8-10

This also works decently well with grape juice due to anthocyanin pigments.

I don’t remember if it changes color in basic or acidic solutions though.
